Having owned several turbo charged vehicle's dump valves have never done anything for me, far to.........boy racer
However waste gate chatter, now thats a different storey and sounds bloody lovely, IMO.
Currently I am considering an induction kit, The only one that I am intrested in is the Carbonio. If I went with this option would I get slight increase in intake noise and waste chatter, - I do not want anything loud as it's not my style.
Cheers

no, none!
you need a proper intake for chatter, mine does it all the time, i have a twintake. no induction noise, just turbo spool and chatter. hth
-
Joe thats not waste gate chatter on yours, its the car falling to bits. :driver:
-
:insert proper rolleye here:
-
No chatter with a Carbonio - fact.
Increased general dump noise with a forge DV
Full intake such as a TwinTake, ITG, Evoms etc. will give chatter, but not the same type of chatter as e.g. a MK1 focus RS/Scooby etc.

That surprises me, working in the trade and having driven lots of cars the one I remember over most was the Golf Mk4 GT Tdi 150bhp, lovely car to drive and you could hear waste gate chatter on a standard car.
WHITEGTI,
So if I were to change my DV (justifying to the MRS that these are renowned for failing) to a Forge item I would a slight increase on DV noise / activity?
-
no, you need a spacer, ive had both forge dv and oe dv and the oe is far better imo.
-
you want to try an evoms god they are loud ie you will scare old people :signLOL:
-
I like subtle...........It's the way forward.
Well for me anyway.
-
forge twintake then! :innocent:

its funny how many people out there think the fluttering noise they hear is actually the "wastegate" chattering!
the wastegate is in the exhaust housing of the turbo. it's metal and is controlled by ECU in making it open or shut to control boost levels. so to make this wee thing "chatter" and loud enough for you to hear is rather difficult!
What you hear is actually the compressed air slamming back into the turbo compressor and the air being "chopped up" kinda noise when you shut the throttle (as the throttle body is now closed so the air has nowhere to go apart from going back the way it came)
Yes you have a DV to help get rid of this air...but its only a wee hole and it can only accomodate so much air. And remember its designed for OEM boost levels, not mapped levels.
With an induction kit this noise can be amplified compared to OE enclosed air box.
Anyway just thought I'd share this with you (I think its right anyway, some motorsport friend explained it to me a long time ago)
