Title: Best way to spend £400
Post by: B3n on May 13, 2010, 05:40:39 pm
Hey folks

Ive managed to set myself £400 to spend on my car this month and im unsure of the best way to spend it.
I did originaly have my mind set on a Miltek cat back but after having a look around some other things have come to my attention

Now here are my options

Miltek cat back
Twin Take
R32 Front brakes
S3 Intercooler
Eibach Springs
AP Coilovers
HPFP
Hurdy's 17'' Pro Race alloys which are up in the for sale section

Or put the money into my Ibiza fund :star: :star: :pomppomp:

My car is currently just Revo stage 1 with no other mods and im planning on going stage 2+. So guys please help me out.

Ben

I'd get the hpfp  :happy2:

You will get some benefit on stage 1 (according to the review section) and its another part for stage 2+ ready to go  :jumpmove:

Edit : and some sportlines

Now here are my options

Miltek cat backNope

Twin Take Maybe

R32 Front brakes Nope(daveB has better options for not much more)

S3 Intercooler Maybe (but is it really needed at stage 1??)

Eibach Springs Nope

AP Coilovers Nope

HPFP  Maybe

17'' Pro Race alloys Maybe

what about Anti roll bars, or the TT lower ams, or whitleine anti lift kit.  These would all help you get the power down better, thus making your car faster without touching the engine.

Nothing worse than loads of power without the ability to put it down

Hmm cool thanks folks

Didnt think about doing any chassis mods at this stage other than springs.
I am quite taken by the idea of anti roll bars and the WALK kit. What kind of benifits would i be getting from the S3 lower arms?

Hi Ben,

I will have an immaculate Milly ED30 cat back available soon.

less unsprung weight which is a big positive, as well as another  half degree negative camber, giving you a massive amount more cornering grip.

having these or the ARBs or the WALK wil allow you to corner faster and get on the power much earlier from a corner.  Since going back to stock in my car, ive noticed that even with the best part of 40-50Hp less, im struggling for traction big style

I'd be inclined to say sort the handling and brakes out first but hey hpfp is sure one of the best mods.

I'm stage 2+ and don't really struggle with putting the power down

I have sportlines, no arb's no WALK... decent tyres and being careful is more than enough for me.. Get the pump

Im saying in comparison, having been at stage 2+ with full chassis mods and no issues with putting power down, to being on stage 1 and finding i cant put a smaller amount of power down as well as i did before.

You'd find alot more cornering traction and speed with the ARBs.  my favourite mod of everything i did by far

the pump is a good choice though, cant argue with that

Cheers for the input folks :happy2:

At the moment im feeling the idea of a HPFP and WALK kit all dependant on the price for the HPFP though

Yeah the S3 arms sound like a good idea but i dont honestly feel i would get the full benefits from them as im not exactly a track day person. Then next month i will look into brakes as ill have to break at some point and i would like to get these sorted before going any further with the performance or handling.

WALK and HPFP would be a good combination.

as an alternative to the WALK if you were to fit a rear ARB instead you would save money on labour and wheel alignment.  This will give the same benefits as the walk, for maybe a bit less cash.  then at a later date you could fit a front ARB and WALK at the same time to save double labour costs.

Im liking that idea thanks alot :happy2:

Now where would be the best place to get hold of the above items? Whiteline ARB's i take it are the ones to go for?

Spearmint in LA..

Alternatively a fuel pump would be a good choice..  :happy2:

whiteline bars
http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/products.asp

or maybe dubek would do you a deal if you bought a BSH rear arb and a hPFP off him
http://dubtek.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22&products_id=263
now that bad boy would get rid of understeer

HPFP is a good mod, but if you are only stage 1 you would have to upgrade to stage 2+ to get the benefit, which is more moolah as with a stage 2+ you really need an intake and zorst. :happy2:

Handling mods will make you faster A to B too.

If you don't want my Alloys then I'd go for the ARB's and Whiteline kit

but if he has the REVO SPS switch he could quite easily nudge the fueling up a bit or up the boost and he wont have to worry about fuel cuts.

this shows the benefits  of a HPFP whilst on stage 1
