Title: brakes
Post by: gtineal on May 13, 2010, 08:28:24 pm
well the time has come to replace the front disks and pads, the missus drives it during the week, i play at the weekend . i phoned vw and they want £185 to supply disk and pads  yeah right. my question is will red stuff pads be ok for just normal drivng (the missus )  do they have to be warmed up for optimum use? ive also found some brembo disks for £66 delivered that seems a good deal to me ? will they go ok with red stuff pads?  sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i get it right  :happy2:
car is 07 edition 30  i assume the disks i want are 312mm?

 cheers

I doubt there will be much difference between the discs (get grooved rather than drilled!), it is the pad material, and coefficient of friction ratings that make the main difference.

Personally, I didn't get on with the ebc red stuff pads on my mk4 turbo - the feel was incredibly wooden with marginal increase in retardation power.
