Two zip ties should work for its removal.
Or you could follow this guide, http://www.golfmkv.net/blog/archives/9#

A tool to remove the coilpack?????
Didnt need one when i done mine, just give the coilpack a little twist first to break the seal then pull it off with your hands :happy2: :happy2:

I have a little rubber wedge, but as said in the previous post, twist and lift. Just make sure that you remove ALL the connectors to the coilpacks first and then ensure they tightly clip back in afterwards.

ok guys
Cheers for the info :happy2:

You can get the tool from a VW dealer, I got mine from my friendly seat dealer. Its called T0009 or something?

dont mean to hi-jack your post but is there an issue with the coil packs on the mk5 gti? i used to own a mk4 1.8t and it was forever throwing up coils
-
Perhaps, but its nowhere near as bad as the 1.8T

Cheers Dan. Think I'll get a price for one to see how much they'd rob me by first.
