Well finally got my Bluefin done last night. ( muchos gracias Whitehartmart )
The gods were conspiring against me not get it done this week . First my company decided to send me to Lochinver for two nights (couldn't even get a mobile signal!) got home on the Thursday and the wife had decided to bugger off to her folks caravan until friday. Then she calls on Friday to say she has lost the car key!!!! :scared:
anyway she eventually arrived home after finding the key at 3.30 yesterday and I set to work.
Unit is as described and very easy to use . I only had one slight issue with drivers as I'm running windows 7. Contacted Dominic at superchips who sorted it over the phone. Great service! :happy2:
First impressions are ones of total amazement. :driver: What a difference in a car! much smoother and much more responsive. Pulls like a train now. :jumping: I would reccomend one of these in a minute!
I am however slightly concerned that I may have just embarked on a slippery power modding slope! :surprised:
I take my hat off to hurdy, jonny c , joes gti etc. your cars must be awesome!!!!!

:happy2:
Lots of happy driving to come i'm sure.
I'm on the cusp of making the Bluefin decision. Just still unsure whether to make the leap. :scared:

Yeah, sorry about that mate! :ashamed:
In my opinion it turns the car into a very different beast. Just want so go all of the time. :jumping: I'm gonna have problems keeping the speed down thats for sure. I'ts very addictive :driver:
-
Sounds great.. how much did you pay? I'm thinking of going down this route but not sure wether to go other remap.
-
bluefin isnt the only otpion available with a handset. I had luefin at stage 1/2/2+ and wasnt entirely impressed. I moved to shark performance and the improvement was quite drastic
here my review of it
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,9088.0.html
Also many more reviews of his work here:
http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/154-shark-performance/
he also does an option of a race version of the map, which overrides the feature in your ECU that stops you left foot breaking. thus allowing you to left foot on track properly with out ECU cutting throttle input when you apply the brake

Nice one Gaz! :happy2:
SCFTMFW! :jumpmove:

do you have to mod anything on your car e.g. performance to feel the power increase of the Bluefin ?
-
bluefin stage 1 can be used on a completly standard car.
stage 2 requirs a performance downpipe
stage 2+/3 requires the above and an uprated HPFP.
This is he same for prettty much all remaps
-
I am honestly delighted with the results. :pomppomp: I realise that there are other maps out there but, the price I got the blufin at was too good to refuse...... :jumpmove:
My car is was totally standard! :jumping:
-
Hi , how's the bluefin going. Have you had any problems since
thinking of getting mine done soon but still not sure to go for revo
or fin.
-
neither of them.....
-
-
oops did i bad moouth REVO there, my bad
as said above there are other otpion other than revo and bluefin. i for one am not a fan of bluefin at all after having it on my car. it made good power, but gave poor delivery.
I love REVO, it feels ace, and with the adjustability its fantastic, but after driving lots of cars with revo and a few with bluefin, i must admit, im more of a fan of the delivery on the shark performance remaps. Not as aggressive initially, which i find preferable to drive with less wheel spin issues.
quite a few Bluefin and revo converts on briskoda to back that up as well. Although if i go WMI i will be getting REVO done so i can adjust the settings as and when required.

You should work for SP!! i currently have a bluefin unit (car not been mapped yet), and even though i haven't even felt the impact of a remap i already want to sell it and try SP haha
-
i do.....nah only joking. to be honest id reccomend revo over bluefin everyday. i really wasnt a fan of it. Just passing n my experiences. honesty never hurt no one
-
as it was so cheap to buy im guna have a go with bluefin, put it on the rollers and see how it goes! If i make the 260/280ish i want i will be happy.
-
k04 seem good, all the problems i experienced and other guys seem to have were k03, and to be fair might have been addressed as quite alot of us were mailing to and fro with superchips about it trying to get it sorted, i just sacked it off and went remap trialing before changing
-
mine is a ko3 :signLOL:
i will be using their 2+ or 3
-
Which one did you go for and what were your reasons for not choosing the others.
-
the stage 1 map was ok, but its the stage 2 were the delievery became quite on/off, like it had a few power bands. I never really noticed it that much until i started having goes in other ones, and then it became very obvious, like i say though, this was a couple years back, they have prob changed it now.
although a guy on brisky timmyboy had stage 2 with identical characteristics to me, got it on JKMs rollers and made 250Hp and 270Ibft which is low for stage 2 anyways, he then had his fuel pump fitted the stage 2+ map installed and made..... 250.3 or something like that, mine made more than that, although it was on AMDs rollers which back then used to read very high.
-

who is that aimed at?
-
I had bf stage 1, 2 and 3, 1 and 2 were spot on it was only stage 3 that was pants... Only had Revo 2+ and cant fault it in any way and its a thousand times better than the bf stage 3 :happy2:
That said, there have been others on here with stage 3 that love it :rolleye:
-
are you k04?, i had bluefin at stage 1, 2 and 2+ (k03). it was mainly the stage 2 that was really poor, the stage 2+ cured all the stage 2 issues, but still wasnt as good as you would want. It was a free upgrade though so cant whinge too much
the SP maps were better than all of the bluefin ones i had IMO, and ive had these at stage 3, then 2 and now stage 1. Hp is similar, but i have more torque.
bluefin stage 1, 241hP, 249lbft
shark stage 1 240Hp, 270Ibft
never had mine on the rolers for shark stage 2 r 3 so cant really compare, but the bum dyno was impressed
-
Obviously I haven't tried REVO, but I am still delighted with my Bluefin. :driver:
No issues at all except............ I never get to drive the bloody thing!!!!!
-
I'm k04 :happy2:
My mate Gti Daz on here has bf stage 1 on his k03 gti and thats spot on but agian he hasn't gone 2 and 3...
-

its a preference thing mate, i used the stage 2 BF map for all my laps of the ring, and loved everyminute of it, so it wasnt bad enough to ruin that, the brakes did that instead , so its not that bad, im just pretty picky with it TBH,
-
i have seen some good stage 2+ print outs on here ko3....power that id be happy with. but we will see, should have it on by end of august
-
mine made 287hp 300Ibft on BF stage 2+ (AMDs rollers). Didnt stop it getting spanked by a SP stage 2 vRS 260Hp 290Ibft(JKMs rollers) that was the deciding factor for me changing, after driving his car.
mine had the HPFP and intake and exhaust, his had stage 2 and exhaust.
-
have you seen bluefins latest remap:
