thinking of buying one of these for work but i will only be using it to to cut exhausts off...As any body used one and what is the best one for me to buy

Would you not be better with a band saw or fixed rotary?
-
they are to akward to get in Jay in some exhausts..if your cutting out a panel on a car they cut nice and don't warp the panel as well as my mate might be going halves on one

I used to use one years ago. Pretty good tool but perhaps a little OTT for cutting pipework off
Basically just an arc which then uses gas to blow through the cut. Bit like an electric version of an Oxy Acetylene/Oxy Propane torch.
You'll get quite a lot of spatter and because it uses electric you'll need to disconnect the battery etc everytime.
I've seen chain cutters which are good for taking exhausts off.

i have a chain cutter as well for cutting exhausts os...maybe a bit ott but the fun you can have with them

I used a plasma cutter when playing 'Dead Space' wicked weapon!
