Title: DBP Edition30 mini detail (Update 04/04/09)
Post by: Greeners on January 18, 2009, 09:30:01 pm
Well after a drive on what can only be described as a ''rally stage'' (thanks Mr PG ) on Friday I thought I'd give the old girl a bit of special treatment as I can honestly say she's never been quite that dirty.

So here's what I've been up to over the last day and a half:

Wheels: AG custom wheel cleaner, EZ detail brush followed by a MF wash mit. 2 x coats of Collinite 845 then 1 x coat of Poorboys wheel sealent.

Bodywork: Jet wash including inner wheel arches, left to soak then two bucket method with Meguire's lambswool wash mit (one for upper half and one for lower half) with Jeffs shampoo. MF drying towel, then 2 x coats of Collinite 845

Exhaust: Autosol Metal cleaner with cotton cloth, then buff and polish with MF

Glass: Interior + exterior AG Fast Glass

Interior: AG Leather cleaner + Gliptone Liquid Leather, full vacuum.

It's about 25-30 I'd say. Wouldn't want to go anymore as Im a bit OCD when it comes to cleaning the arches out! I haven't found a single drawback with them as yet. The ride is probably a tad bit harder but nothing more than you'd expect and certainly not what I'd call uncomfortable. Go for it  :happy2:

On Luca's car I think it would look the dogs as he has black wheels and door mirror's. Get it wrapped Steve, then you could always take it off?

Wow! Love the look. I wanted a step-by-step account nousey!

Few Qs:

- Any problems with using sealant after wax? I've got collies and am planning to stick 465 on to the wheels followed by PBs wheel sealant.

- when using two wash mitts, where's the 'middle' for you? Under the windows? Or under the door bump strip?

- Fast glass - I've used this but found it to be crap. What do you use to apply? Have you tried using AGs glass polish?

- hows the leather stuff on the ED30 'leather'? I still haven't used any treatment on mine because of so many people lovin' and hating' glipitone.

Nope, always used this method.

Under the door strip

- Fast glass - I've used this but found it to be crap. What do you use to apply? Have you tried using AGs glass polish?

I find it really easy to use, my only complaint would be they don't seem to stay clean (inside) for long!

- hows the leather stuff on the ED30 'leather'? I still haven't used any treatment on mine because of so many people lovin' and hating' glipitone.

Gliptone was recommended by 182_Blue so it's good enough for me  :happy2:

I've used the Gliptone product on two cars now...firstly my father's Porsche, and secondly my friend's TT.

Porsche - the seats are a soft leather (special order), and were beginning to crease. They also had a few scuffs on them. I used the Gliptone cleaner, scuffmaster and conditioner. The scuffmaster worked well, and the conditioner basically removed all the creases completley!! Amazing product. 6 months later, and they have yet to come back!

TT - stunk of smoke from the previous owner. The leather was a silver colour and desperately needed cleaning, as it was looking more on the black side! Used the cleaner and conditioner. Result - cleaner didn't really do any more than a wet towel would have. Not too impressed. Conditioner worked wonders. Completely removed a few creases/ruffles, and the car now stinks of leather!! Not a smoke odour at all, which I was absolutely taken aback by!

Definitely recommend the Gliptone products.

Damn straight. In fact, today I saw some Honda civic with black rims and a red lip.

I gotta do this mod to my car at some point.

Nousey, what colour/finish are your monzas in?

I didn't specify a colour, just left it to the boys at A1 to sort it  :happy2:

May go for a more matte finish in the future?

Just wondered whether it was matt or gloss.

Keep thinking about whether to go for matt black or go for the DBP of the ED30. What do you reckon? Too much?

Mine are gloss and do look great in the sunlight. Not sure I'd go the same colour as the car as I prefer a contrast  :happy2:

Ok, sun was out so time for a little spruce up and some pic whorage!

Just a quick one today! Jet wash, two bucket method, Meguiers and a Lambswool mit then a liberal spray of Dodo Juice Red Mist (this stuff is the nuts BTW, easy to use and fantastic results!) for the below results  :happy2:

Oh and a coat of Colly for the wheels

A bit of beadage pre drying
