I was talking and thinking the other day - is there a national or annual whole forum get together? If not i think there should be.
Surely theres enough folk on here to warrant a large meet, somewhere that would facilitate all the cars and is fairly central geographically to be fair for all north and south.
Obviously would need the backing/running from the maker shakers on here but would be a good meet surely
-
There have been a few meets tagged on to shows, but the only really successful forum meet was the first one (see two pics on intro page to forum).
Another national meet would be great and if it could have some other interest with it then that would be even better.
-
well im relatively new on here and dont want to seem pushy or authoritive with it but would be good to see all the forum cars in once place. So your thinking a bigger event attatched to the meet?
-
Yep,
Usually GTI International is a good show and is well attended by all the usual forum suspects. Last few years we had a stand too :happy2:
-
This could be interesting... a massive scale meet
Then we need a massive scale motorway cruise with someone to film us all :jumpmove:
-
Gti Inters was good last year as was the Superchips Rolling Road day.
Ideally a venue around the middle of the country possibly with something else i.e. Rolling road.
-
Yeah some kind of focal point, theres a brilliant butterfly park just near me.... :signLOL:
Rolling road or similar would be good cos it would be MK5GOLFGTI.CO.UK offical meet
-
The Gaydon Heritage Motor museum site is a good pretty central location for a meet and they are very friendly to car meets there (We had a Scirocco Central meet there, they recently had the UK's biggest Rebaultsport meet there. etc) . RAF Cosford is also pretty good and fairly central and they also seem fairly friendly to meets (The Scirocco Register club have their annual meet there).

I know Briskoda had a National Meet at Gaydon too iirc.
I'd be up for attending (work dependant) if i was allowed being a Skoda Owner
Don't wanna be accused of taking away all the attention from my poorer cousins from VW :signLOL: :signLOL:
-
You could come Carl that way people would appreciate the Golfs more. :P :P
-
usually we get from 10-20 cars on an avarage meet, would be good to get 100!!!
-
Sounds interesting, location and time dependent then Im in, dont have any idea about location or activities, how about at JPC's unit then he can give all the cars a going over in some sort of Guinness World record attempt! :signLOL:
-
definitely something id be interested in
-
Would be up for this also. Gaydon looks fairly central :happy2:
-
gaydon were really helpful with the rocco event, robin and myself attended a large VAG meet there last year as well :happy2:
cosford has vulcan content
-

theres gotta be 100+ people on here that would turn up for the big national mk5golfgti.co.uk meet photos get the trade guys on here to maybe come along, got jabbasport representation!
-
RAF Cosford would get my vote :drinking:
-
Would folks be more interested in Cosford or similar due to the space and facilities etc?
Few miles north of Cosfords the Peak district, dont know if theres any scenic places a meet of this scale could happen?
-

When we had the Briskoda meet at Gaydon there was plenty of space.
There is Vulcan content not far from there as well.

Does this mean we could finally get our own version of "everyday I see my dream"?
-
Would this be a 1 dayer?
-
Would this be a 1 dayer?
....Anywhere would be a long journey for you, buddy, but I'm sure someone could give you an overnight stay to help the journey (I could help you possibly). Gaydon is in fairly easy reach from here.

Are you grooming me?

You know I've always thought those photos looked somehow familiar, then I twigged... I bloody live there!
Typical isn't it... you held a massive meet in my home town and I didn't even know!
I'll get my coat :sad1:
-

-
eww. Right. Moving back to ontopicish.
Does this mean we could finally get our own version of "everyday I see my dream"?
I'd love to do this, but we'd need another guy with a camera as I want some video of my car as well! :P
I'm up for a big meet.
-
if people wanting to make a big film/photo day of it why not look at some large houses in derbyshire (i dont know where exactly but somehwere like chatsworth with a huge estate and car park is an example) or are air fields prefered?
-
^^^^
The parking area outside Gaydon is very big and they'll reserve space for us if asked nicely.
Plus the motor museum is good and there's go-karting.

Thats brilliant, i hadnt fully appreciated what there was there! So when does everyone think is a good time to have it? obviously avoiding clashing with any other large vw event
-
I'd quite like to visit the Heritage Motor Museum as well; I've heard a lot about it.
-
so guys is this worth persuing? get a forum annual meet going?
-
so guys is this worth persuing? get a forum annual meet going?
....I think a starting point might be which month to hold it. There's GTI International coming up, so not this month.
-
maybe speak to pov and cuprak1. se when they are setting this speed challenge up and we could do a large meet then.
-
With the show season and people's holiday it's probably almost too late for this summer - maybe early Autum. These things need to be planned months in advance when you're talking about the numbers a national meet like this would attract.
Plus there are quite a few R32s on here - would it be wise having several R's all in the same place as the same time?
