Title: Just picked it up
Post by: Mr Punch on May 25, 2010, 06:55:33 pm
Everything has been done as promised along with the timing belt kit :happy2:

I did test drive it at the weekend and it was just as good driving home today.

Just a quick question before I go out and have a play around with the car.

The temperature guage was bang on 90 on the dial on the way home about 20miles? Please tell me this is normal?????

I did not notice this on Saturday when I test drove it...but I think I would of done if it was on 90 which I consider high?

Hence my concern  :scared:

Thanks in advance

90 is perfect mate. normal running temps.  i would also reccomend not taking the car above 2500rpm when thwe car is below that temp.  once at 90 degs, give it the full beans :happy2:

Best to wait a few mins after it hits 90 to give it some beans ideally, the water temp always raises slightly quicker than oil temp - just a comment  :happy2:

 No I didn't spin the car :ashamed:

I'll post some pictures when I get in from work tomorrow.

I can't believe a 5 year old car with 66k on the clock drives the way it does...... its like a new car!

Mind I have been out of touch for few years..but I'm back now and I would not want to be anywhere else. :popcornsoda:

Thanks Everyone

The MK6 GTI shows the oil temp in the highline display, very hand to have this extra info if you want to press on. :driver:

Good to hear your enjoying the car Mr Punch :happy2:

Great to hear your enjoying it Mr Punch, it will only get better! Like the first time you hear the turbo, and get used to the noise the exhaust makes at certian revs and under load, really is a top car!   Look forward to seeing the pics.

Enjoy the car. I remember the first time I pushed the car. It was the second day after picking it up (first day I just drove it home very meekly and tried to get used to the layout).
