Title: Time for some TFSI magic
Post by: Jules86 on May 25, 2010, 09:33:27 pm
Good news or bad news, depending on how you look at it (i have more reason to stick around here now)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FJules86dad%2FNew_S3%2FGP57AAKB.jpg&hash=2dabaf57e766ee9587ade49c28608f0151af21a7)

Its got lots of options, just need to source the satnav as its the only thing missing really.

Bose, parking sensors, MFSW, phone prep, rain and light sensors (more but i cant remember)

I decided i didnt want to get the same car again (R32) as it just seemed wrong. This seemed the logical alternative, its a manual so not perfect (would have loved DSG) but it shifts, can only imagine what its like after some remap magic!
I went through audi finance, currently comes with 2 years free servicing (which will cover the 40,000 service) managed to get them to refurb all 4 wheels (although only one was kerbed i wanted them all done) and went for GAP insurance on it.

Im very very happy, wont pick it up till sunday, maybe tuesday if the refurbs not done.

Have to say it sound superb, its no V6 and will never ever sound as good but the exhaust is throaty with a great pop on the over run and the turbo sounds fantastic.

Ill get some more pics after i have it and clean it.

Cheers. If RR could adivse on those LED fog lights (but for an audi obviously) would be greatly appreciated!

I will miss the fridge but this will make up for it

It was £20k, im paying £350 a month which includes GAP. £7k balloon and 46 months. Ill probly trade it in around 3 years for something newer.

Cheers everyone. I might look at wrapping the chrome front and wing mirrors but at the moment (bar the satnav) its perfect!

The 3.2 quattro isthe bargain car of the year mate, an exhaust on it will see the same power as the R32 and a remap will make it quicker. Seeing as you can have them for £8k its a superb car!

very nice mate, it was either S3 or K1 for me.

K1 swung it due to more in yer face looks, and I was only 19 at the time.

4WD is the future though  :signLOL:

Watch out where you park as the S3 door mirrors are highly sort after by the wrong type of people.

I seriously considered the K1 mate, as you know, but the quattro swung it for me after driving my mums standard GTI the other week as it struggled to put the power down in 1st in the dry. Decision was made after that, flooring it out a junction in 1st with no fuss today reinforced the decision and i went for it!

Watch out where you park as the S3 door mirrors are highly sort after by the wrong type of people.

I live in apartments so its parked in a secure car park mate, then just need to be careful where i take it.

simply gorgeous , now start the mods  :happy2:

Going to enjoy it standard mate and add mods as i get bored (if i do lol)  :happy2:

Think theres a flash counter on the ecu thats a tell tale as to how many times the ecus been mapped  :sad1:
Title: Re: Time for some TFSI magic
Post by: jimlad09 on May 25, 2010, 11:27:24 pm
Ohright, i had some warranty work done on my GTI and the tech asked if it had been chipped and i said not to my knowledge and he said the only reason he asks is cos its over boosting but because theres no error codes he cant enter the menu on his diagnostics to investigate. This was VW so i dont know if its different elsewhere.

A garage i use whos a revo dealer reckons dealerships cant see it... duno then lol

There is a flash counter but a revo agent should normally reset the flash counter to zero after mapping the car.

I keep trying to tell myself I can get a nice car for around 7k but when you lot chuck cars like this in my face I want to go all out again.

Damn you Jules  :signLOL:

Did you put £2k down to get the payments to £350ish?
Title: Re: Time for some TFSI magic
Post by: Poverty on May 26, 2010, 08:22:59 am
there are 2 flash counters, one is resettable, the other isnt apparently.

Also VAG now can interrogate the ecu remotely to see if its mapped or not.

Superb choice.

Im awaiting some quotes on how much extra it would cost me for a mk6 GTI or the S3 on my company car scheme, dont think i'll be able to get away with any mods though, unless someone can tell me otherwise. After all, be rude not to add revo and blueflame  :driver:

Jools, with the front LED's, can you not just fit the new S3 head-lights that have the integrated LED's in the xenon clusters, that would be my plan (but then again im a bit OEM)   :ashamed:

Thats a bit rubbish!  They did a proper every body panel face-lift in true audi style, while only making subtle changes to the actual styling.

You cant change them mate no, and i dont like the facelift front end.

I might look into some audi S6 leds but in all honesty i cant bloody see them and no one moves over for an audi regardless of LED's  :signLOL:

Its weird getting use to attention, positive and negative, i have been cut up and actually bullied by a lorry last night in an average speed zone; he sat right behind me with his full beams on because he didnt want to overtake me! The positives are awesome though, even had a nod from a police man in his car next to me  :surprised:

Out of interest how do i make the turbo noise (the excess gas expulsion noise) louder, but not 'chav subaru' louder. Thats stuffs like crack
Title: Re: Time for some TFSI magic
Post by: RobH on June 03, 2010, 10:27:06 pm
Intake FTW, be it evomos or itg etc etc etc will give you the niose your after but not chavy. A forge spacer is another option but my votes with Intake or both .

Glad your liking the car and that K04 magic :happy2:
Title: Re: Time for some TFSI magic

Liking it very much mate, dont miss the fridge at all!

It is weird though as when i drove both i much preferred the R32, i presume its because the R32 was well used but the S3 was on a few miles and still tight. I am finding the low speeds an issue though in the S3 but i think its more me with the manual, as i can never pull away as smoothly as the DSG did coupled with a lots of low down torque from the V6 in the Golf. Ill get used to it though

Whats the best shift rpms? I keep hunting the red line but know this is silly when theres wedges of power in the middle, too used to N/A!
Title: Re: Time for some TFSI magic
Post by: RobH on June 03, 2010, 10:43:21 pm
I normaly change around 6750 ish but mine pulls all the way to the redline, on a standard car maybe they peak a bit less but i dnt know mine wernt standard for very long :rolleye:.

Maybe a bit or turbo lag your experiencing and obviously not used to when moving off, but if you want some real mid range and low down torque theres always Revo :innocent:.

The v6 will be a distant memory then

oooooh! Any links

Got two vids of the items whilst in neutral. Sounds pants as there is no load and the engine can rev it freely without needing to build up any real boost. Need to get a incar vid of me giving it some, then it sounds the nuts

Also for more exhaust noise, fold down the back seats or remove the parcel shelf, then underneath the boot carpet mat you should also find some venting flap, use something to keep those open permanently and enjoy the sounds from your exhaust when all the windows are up. It will be like having a milly backbox fitted but for free lol

Just the spacer

ITG and spacer

Glad you're loving it. I don't see the relevance of the 'not mapping it, it's financed' comment???  It's your car, do what you want. It only becomes the finance companies asset if you stop paying, and then it goes straight to auction, and if they received under what you owe them, they will pursue you. Hope that makes sense.

Enjoy
