Looking at the possibility of a bigger intercooler in addition to the WMI. I already have an S3 intercooler, with no a/c core in front of it.
I am trying to decide whether an ITG on its own would be better than an S3 core with a Forge unit.
As far as I can see, the THS is possibly better due to OEM placement, less likely to see pressure drop. The Forge would be better due to more area open to air.
Has anyone paired an S3 core to a Forge? Bear in mind I have a Leon, so I would need to buy a Leon Twintercooler with S3 pipes/connections, and would need to sell them as a pair eventually too.
Ta,
Al

....T_T is often away for loooong periods. Do a Search because you'll find his posts very informative.
TC is probably either changing nappies or playing with trains.

Bare in mind i am no teccy but it works great so far. I was at PDtuning on there rolling road last week or so and he said this set up was really helping to be able to increase the timing i have my revo 2+ settings at boost 9 fuel 6 timing 6 with not the slightest sign of any knock on the timing, he even thinks i could get timing 7 on, how the coolers help all this i havn't the foggiest but i am happy for sure.

i was reading a seat website the other day where i think it was blade slapped a forge cooler on there and went to revo to have the car set up and they put the timing straight to 7 and said that is perfect
-
yeah mate thats right and i think he is still running the standard leon cooler behind the twintercooler. makes you think what you could run with the S3/forge setup together
-
warren on the other hand in his s3 said he gets slight timing pull on timiing setting 5 with his stock s3 cooler.

What numbers were you seeing on that RR TC?

250BHP dead. Which did surprise me as i had got 259 previously on DD rollers without the pump, but the car is running spot on and the two curves matched each other really well. He reckons i should see another 20 - 25 extra BHP with an intake, which gives 275. And that is a realistic figure for a KO3 with my mods.
Still dont know how you get your numbers though. :surprised:

Lol, at the Awesome RR day I got 283whp when you guys were at the ring. There was an issue with the coast down to calculate the flywheel hp but I'm fine with just the whp.
I have to say that F6 is a little too rich for my liking as I use F7 but it may be fine with your setup.

You know me, all the graphs just look like etcha sketches to me. :rolleye: But Dave at PD tuning seemed very happy with the set up on the car. I am Just starting to hunt round for a quiet intake to finish off that side of things. Have you got one yet, i seem to remember you were contemplating one when we last met. :happy2:

^^^^
I think you're wise, TC - I know that many here like to maximise and squeeze out every bhp they can from their cars but the shape of the graph and keeping headroom tolerance on how hard engine components are worked, is a much more sensible option in my opinion.
Even only 260 bhp on a K03 car is plenty fast enough for road use when combined with good handling, and it's still fun on the track as well. There'll always be a faster car in your rear view mirror.

in TC's case thats me

TC the BSH Truseal intake should be the quietest of the lot.

....Just don't get any side engine mounts! They transfer all the soundz :pomppomp: :star: :pomppomp:

Is this quieter than the Dbias. :popcornsoda:

I'm not sure but I recon the cheaper BSH intake will give comparable results to the Dblias plus it's not as heavy (not that that matters).
-
when i get another intake i want it to be quiet. loved the ITG but now i wanna try a new more understated route than before, so i can still drive as fast as before but without everyone else hearing me coming a mile away

MMmm interesting, who do we know that has one over our way so i could perhaps have a listen.

i think aparoon has one, not sure how far he is from you tho toppers

my bsh is loud!
im running fuel 9 on stage 2+ and happilly seeing 350-370 bhp at fly depending on rollers with just the s3 cooler
-
The Twintake is quieter than the BSH :happy2:
....Yes, I'd question how any intake with an open filter could be quieter than one with an enclosed filter, even with two enclosed filters.
-
I am going to hunt down a Dbias me thinks.

I am going to hunt down a Dbias me thinks.
was never very impressed by mine...
it weighed a tonne, the filter is tiny (smaller than stock..) and the quality was not brilliant for a £350+ intake, with it regularly comming loose from the mounting points and finally the flexi hose which connects the filter box to the downpipe split.
i also used to get engine cut outs on dsg upshifts which have never occured since i swapped to the ITG
-
just sold my Dbilas 3 days ago aswell  i had it on my car for 20k miles and it was great, alot quieter than my VF but you would expext that. i think there is a guy selling one on the SCN, i will look and if i find a link i will put it up mate

I have a ko4 Dbilas i may consider selling mate which has been modified to correct the Maf scaling. I would say its covered less than 2k too. PM me for more details if your interested. :happy2:

I have a modded ko3 Dbilas fitted to my ed30 and think its great :happy2:
