geometry reset needed...toe setting bit off probably (hitting potholes / kerbs can do that)

Isn't this sometimes a sign that the shocks can be on the way out too boys?
I've got this problem too, very mildly though.
Cheers.

Do you have a crap load of speed bumps in your local area?
Particularly ones like this:

yes!:(
but i always go mega slow over them
whats the best way to tackle them?
think im booking her in for a geo in two weeks time :driver:

Those particualar types of speed humps often cause uneven tyre wear. Basically the humps are extremely badly designed as a car cannot straddle the hump.
Your best bet is to drive with one wheel off the hump and the other driving completely over it.
-
^^^ I'm the same Steve. Went to Kwik fit today actually and know a guy there well. Assessed my rear Pilot sports and they're uneven as fack, presumably only from these as my shocks seemed fine on a visual assessment (done at Kwik fit).
From my home, you cannot drive out the estate without coming across 3/4 of these speed bumps, despite the fact there are 4 different routes out the estate. The whole thing is a 20mph limit so it's impossible to avoid them and I must straddle 15 of these daily, at least. The GTI is just wide enough to go over them neatly without causing too much of a bump, i.e. its width is suitable. Still wears though.
Seems like absolutely nothing I can do :fighting: :fighting: :sad1:, not sure about yourself?

the rears are fine its just my o/s front
to be honest though it has a few too many weights on it for my liking.
so probably has a wee bit of history
:(
love the car tho. the remap and having darth vader under my bonnet make it sound and feel awesome
yet to find a 200bhp which i can test it beside tho

How many £'s are we talking for this please (at Midland VW) ??
-
Mines in at Mid VW in a couple of weeks for this - cost approx £30 to £90 depending on how much adjustment if I remember correctly.
-
i was quoted 75
-
Had mine done at Wheels In Motion last year, think due to the state of some of the roads at the min im due for a check up
Wheels In Motion are highly recommended across the board. Their staff are extremely knowledgeable and I am aware of people taking kit cars their for custom setups.
-
has anyone got the correct setting from the factory
or is there a paticular fast road setting that folk use?
toe in etc
im just running oem suspension on 18 monza 2
-
Getting mine done when it's serviced.
Quoted £75 also asked for brake fluid. Doing both for £90!!!
Someone did mention a technical buletin regarding the rear setup.
From memory makes the handling softer but tyre noise and wear better.
Anyone got any details on this?
