My GF is, but only with the hoover in hand !!

Sure the car will be fine and at least Mrs C is ok - well for now anyway....

Id she genuinely upset or is the waterworks so you don't have a go at her?

Anyway, as long as she's okay that is the most important thing.

Post by: VC on May 28, 2010, 04:47:42 pm
well she's had her cuddle... but i r not a happy cherry  :chicken: but i didnt go mad at her, never do, but i know i should out right ban her from my car from now on, floods of tears bless her

thankfully its just a rim and no where near as bad as i thought it might be, if thankfully is the correct word considering she's done almost £500 of damage.

was an immaculate wheel ..oh.. and a new pilot sport 2..

rim killed (it has a grain so cant be refurbed) tyre killed (deep rip)

now have this:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa104%2FverycherryR32%2FVCdeadrim1.jpg&hash=fd8ba9342388ec2012704c4bde10b27e5ac28e0c)

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Faa104%2FverycherryR32%2FVCdeadrim2.jpg&hash=65d179126853d2c997500836b3f0984a13a09d27)

minor thing, big cost, mrs ok....but still irritates the cr@p outta me  :sad1:

and she hates the way i say 'be careful' when she goes out in mine... which to be fair is rare, she only took it as she needed the extra seat (eos only holds 4 people)

Not sure about the rim but the tyre damage looks to be limited to just the rim protector. Get the wheel checked out. I had some minor damage to the rim protector and the tyres were fine for another 10k miles.

....Women love cars too, but in a very different way. They love their cars for ever doing what they want, for starting and stopping more or less* when and where they should, for being helpful, protecting their children and sharing the load.

* = Note "more or less" resulting in rim damage!

They expect similar things from their husbands too

gravesend is very north for me  :innocent:

by grain i mean they are diamond cut and not painted and have hundreds of really tiny grooves on the face... like a record if you looked at it in the light, mashing them destroys them  :sad1:

I 2nd Lepsons, they will do it.  Is just a diamond cut face and will come up good as new.  Has the tyre gone to the cords?

VC, it appears to be a recurring event, either with her eos, and now your 'rocket'.

I echo RR's comments. Spend a few hundred quid and put her through advanced driving school that facilitates training on taking corners at higher than normal speeds without clipping the rims.

The wheel can be refurb'd, there's some companies who do diamond polishing/cutting and result in a wheel as good as new. Just got to make sure they put on a proper high-temp laquer!
