Can anyone shed some light on a propblem which has recently occurred on my ESP system. Light is now on constantly and stability control is no longer working although ABS is fine. Might it be a switch or sensor problem? or am i potentially looking at a mechanical item (which i assume is costly)
Does anyone have any experience or can offer advice in this area.
Any info greatly appreciated.

id start with a VCDS scan mate to see what the fault is,

Cheers fella......car has been to garage and mecahnic has plugged in diagnostic system. He says that such a large number of fault codes has come up that he is unsure what to tackle first. He is going to try the ABS sensor first, seems like it is trial and error and this could be costly as the warrenty is just out.
Joined the forum in an attempt to identify known issues to hopefully save me some pennies.

ahh damn it always happens just out of warranty :fighting:,sounds like a good place to start tho, id try clearing the codes and rescan a few days later and see whats come back

hello,
has anything changed recently ? Im surprised you have so many fault codes.
As others have said get it reset then allow it to happen again.
long shot could be a failing battery/altermator causing low voltage which has been known to give lots of unrelated fault codes :happy2:

welcome to the site...hope its not the abs unit that is faulty has it can be costly, these things seem to know when to go fauulty just as the warranty has ran out

hi all,....many thanks for all of your input to date. For anyone elses info...........The fault code was 01435 Brake pressure Sender which means a new ABS control/hydraulic unit at arounf £1500 quid. (ABS still working fine but no ESP - cuts in to much anyhow)
The reading ive been doing and the input from other forums is pointing out that there are a huge number of these units failing. I,m going to try my luck with VW directly as this is an obvious design fault which the customer should not have to foot the bill for. finding out that some customers are having 100 percent success with their compliants but others not so much or even not at all. Still chuffed to bits with my mk5 tho...........and will let you know if i have any sucess.
