Title: Boot lid access
Post by: Lean on May 30, 2010, 06:18:57 pm
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section?

I've discovered where the rattle on my car is coming from - the boot lid

Does anyone know how I take the plastic section off? - it's the very large boot section where there is handles to pull boot down to close.

IIRC there are two screws, one in each handle and the rest is pull off tabs

Thanks guys - managed it with a big pull like you said

Less noise but still some rattle - I think my car needs a day at a friendly garage for some all over TLC

I have the same rattle, did you find anything loose? Break any tabs?

When my boot was rattling it ended up being the lock mechanism that connects to the bumper bit. The screws ahd come loose ever so slightly but it was enough for the boot to move about whilst driving. Its also worth checking the little rubber bump-stops at each corner to check the boots sitting on them correctly.

If its still noisy it might be worth checking.
