My mate got a price to wrap his golf matt black and they quoted £1400 said he'd need the car for two weeks as well as he removes bumpers etc to fully wrap it so you cant see the edge of the vinyl in between panels. Im sure there are places that will do it for cheaper but it comes down to the quality of the material and how good the person is at applying it!

The Limited Edition ford RS500 is fully wrapped in matt black.
I think to be honest it would just be an expensive fad.

Blimey, for that price you could respray it! Where I work I see loads of wrapped cars, just recently we had a chrome wrapped Mini Clubman and R8........I know which one I'd prefer.

and the fact for example the carbon wraps, dont last too well after a year or so, so look tired quite quickly. Respray looks more appealing. :signLOL:

Matt wraps don't age too well guys. They look great when the are new but once their not fresh, they get a bit tatty.

Racoon were very "Unsure" as to what warranty the Cf comes with.

By all accounts looks like Raccoon in Durley (hampshire) have gone bust/done a runner , accoarding to another local Vehicle signage firm :innocent:

Eeak. Wouldn't wish that on anyone.

To be honest it's like anything, if you put time and effort into looking after the wrap you will be ok. But there's only so much you can do with a matt finish.

stuff that then lol.  what about a normal colour like white

whats the deal with polishing etc when you have wrapped a car.

Again there is only so much you can do. You can get rid of light swirls using a very wet polish, with a machine similar to paintwork.

You can also use a heatgun to warm up certain films to get rid of scratches. That's not something I would do to be honest, I can't see that being a controlable technique. Differentials in film heat can discolour parts of the film leaving a patchy finish. Not something I want miglior doing.

If there are severe swirls in the film, I guess the only viable thing to do is replace the film.

Put it this way, I wouldn't want to maintain a "filmed" car with the miles I do.

It's not, its a translucent film.

Full car wraps arent really cost effective, to get it done properly you're bordering on re-spray money.

The only mainstream production car that has a matt finish option are the Alfa's.
The Ford Stand that I visited advised the Ltd Ed RS500 was a wrap. I also checked this and could see the bubble on certain bits.

For £1500 you might swell stump up the extra few hundred quid for a respray.

I too want to get my car done Matt Black. You could get that done for about £2k

Yes, it is a wrap. But it's not a matte black vinyl. It's a translucent film wrap on standard Ford Panther Black paint.

A matte spray will knock a huge amount of money off the resale value. A wrap can be removed.

Yeah but £1500 for something that is going to look tatty after a year would concern me.

Ive seen a 3 year wrapped car and it looked spot on. Any bits that had come up or gone tatty were changed under the warranty of the fitter.

One of my cars is wrapped in white, I am pleased with the finish overall but dont expect perfection, if you look closely you can tell its wrapped but 99% of people would look and think it was white until you open the doors and the shuts are still blue.
