Nipped into McDonalds for a deli sandwhich after doing a couple of logs. A fellow came in and asked if the red sporty car was mine...
He'd come in to tell me he'd witnessed someone reverse into my car and drive off. Very good of him tbh! Gave me his number so he could be an eye witness.
By the time Id managed to bring myself to look at it the stupid wench had been back, put a note on my window and drove back off.
So gutted!
Her mother works in the Police so theyve done things by the book. Maccies manager said it was on CCTV and I reported it to the police. Going to ring her insurer in the morning. Tescos, anyone dealt with them??
Pain in the arse is im due to go back to Germany in 2 weeks!! :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:
Sh*tter

Another thing is id only just had a geometry setup hours before and the b*tch reversed into my wheel :sad1:

-
wow im sorry to hear/see that dude :sad1: theres some rite idiots out there... hope all goes well with the claim and it gets sorted jus like new mate

Gutting mate, especially when you keep your car in top condition, at least they eventually had the decency to leave their details and for the random to go to that trouble!
-
Sorry to see this dude, hope it gets sorted matey :drinking:
-
saw on scn man not good, hope u sort it soon
-
Don't you just hate crap drivers! Its not like it small and she wouldn't have been able to see it is it. Daft wench! :fighting:
-
Sorry to hear this mate. I know the feeling, it happened to me last Saturday. At least the person who did it to you had the decency to come back and leave their details. It's just infuriating how inconsiderate and careless other drivers are.
Hope you get it sorted soon. I am just waiting for the bodyshop to call me to let me know when they can take my car in.
Tesco Insurance are underwritten by Direct Line AFAIK and TBH they were a bit useless to deal with. You need to keep on hassling them or they are likely to forget.
-
Unlucky Mike! :sad1:
Hope you get it sorted asap! Could have been worse bud!
-
I can appreciate the stress. About a year ago, I walked back to my car and saw some red plastic wrapper stuck to the rear wheel. Turned out to be car paint + primer! Someone had reversed into me and run off without leaving a note or anything. No CCTV or anything either. Completely gutted.

sorry to sound negative pal but if you can get oem paint matched panels its the way to go , i dont know a painter in the country that will paint new and you cant see the dfference under artificial light ! hope this dont make things worse just advising you from my experience :happy2:

From one of the shots, it does look like that. It's his Leon.

x2 I've heard red is difficult to match. Martins Basingstoke managed to do a dead-on match for my Laser Blue, you can't tell the difference, so your mileage may vary I guess.

I've had two red cars, including my golf resprayed due to damage and the colour match is pretty much perfect. I'm fussy about these things and I genuinely can't tell the difference under any light.

So sorry to hear this, Mike - Absolute bummer! Very irritating.
Hope it can be sorted quickly so you can move on.

Update....
Car is being assesed at the garage today. Driving round in a Fiesta Titanium :sad1: Super super quiet, could blow the clutch pedal to the floor, everything is mega assisted, light and fluffy.
On the plus side it cost less than £25 to get back to camp, normally £35 in the Cupra lol
-
Make sure it is done properly under insurance. That way, you can refuse to accept it until it is perfect. I have seen some excellent and some downright shoddy jobs under insurance, but you CAN refuse to accept it if the job isn't done right.
I got hit by a bus a few years back in a similar spot and the claim was going on so long, I just bought a new wing and tyre, repaired the bumper and did the spraying myself. It looked perfect but after a few months the new tyre was wearing badly. I got it all checked out and the track controlarm was totally bent and needed replacing. It's the hidden damage that's the costly stuff! If it's done by the insurer, you always have come back... which I didn't :sad1:

....Light and fluffy as in chocolate mousse lite, being extremely light on taste! Give me the rich dark chocolate naughtiness every time! It's worth paying the extra in fuel.

Im fairly confident it will be okay. The garage knew the insurance engineer that looked at the car today and said whatever it needs just let him know and he should be able to authorise it. Having the geometry checked as id had it done an hour before the accident and it doesnt feel right now. I think shes reversed into my wheel aswell as wing.
The bent wing caught the R888 a few times over bumps / dips etc so if there's any damage to the tyre I think I should ask for a pair of tyres, its going to be looked at anyway.
Relieved its getting sorted

True, I haven't drove the S3 for 3 weeks now, it's made me realise what a fantastic car it is! I cannot wait to get her back!

One thing having the Fiesta has done for me is made me realise the benefit of built in bluetooth so I now see a retrofit comming on

Just done the Skoda one mike, so fully integrated and it is a great unit, do you have a RNS or high line to control a BT unit?

If the highline is the clocks, Id get the seat version. It is a clock cluster with bigger display and more options. Think id need different mfsw controls too?

Yeah the bigger screen in between the temperature and fuel gauge on the Leons I think, you will need that or a RNS or RCD unit to control the bluetooth. might be able to use the standard buttons, just re-programmed cant remember what the two banks of buttons look like on the leons.

Totally cocked up and fairly simple job on my first mk2 cupra, sanding marks, dust in paint, inside of the doors overspray :sad1:
Only had 7k miles on clock too!!
Had it done again at another "Approved" garage and hey the same again. They blamed the Luna Grey paint!! FFS!!
I am fussy but the car was sh*t so gutted sold it to a trader at a large loss and bought the CW one and swapped all my mods.
Cheers for reminding me Mike. :signLOL:
You'll be fine :drinking:
-
I saw your car yesterday Mike :sad1:
The wing came and it was in a worse condition than yours  Steve gave them a rollocking and got another on the way :happy2:
Remember a matching pair of R888's brand new for free would be spot on.

The tyre had been catching on the wing. Hadnt investigated though, did you spot any damage to the tyre?

Don't know where the wing came from. He unwrapped it and there were two creases in it
Ooooooh, there was loooooaaaaads of damage to the tyre Mike
2 brand new R888's under insurance for the matching axle at least
