Apologies this has probably been asked loads of times.
These monza 2 Alloys.........
Real ones how much for a set of 4?
Replica ones how much for a set of 4?
Now the daft question what's the difference apart from the cost obviously.........
Are they identical to look at?
How would you know if they were not real????.
Thanks.

Mate we all need to ask questions.
I may be wrong but i think the origionals are made by either BBS or ronals and are 18" x 7.5J
where alot of the reps are 8J. Also the reps will probably weigh more.
The actual look of them wont be to different if any, i'm running reps on mine which you can see in 'members rides' titled finally some pics. At this present time i'm more than happy with them.
If i've given you the wrong info here somone will be along to give you the right answer :happy2:
Hope this helps

BBS and later Ronals made the monzas. They have a specific design int that they are hollow and hence lighter than reps. Visually if you know where to look, you can spot reps from genuine ones.
-
Mmmm so visually they are only different to the trained eye.
Ok so the reps are heavier.....
Well what justifies the cost difference the weight?
The reason I ask if the reps were of rubbish quality I would keep the original 17" wheels I have at the moment.
But if it's just weight and the knowledge that BBS & Ronals made them this would not sway me to part with more cash for the same wheel.......
I need more reasons before I decide and cost difference.
Thanks

Not too certain how much weight difference they are but if its a lot you will notice when you drive it. The BBS/Ronals will be made better..no doubt.

Just "up graded" from reps to BBS Originals.
The reps were supplied with the car from a VW Dealer. So reps can't be that bad.
Don't know if it's phycological, new Tyres or the Wheels, but the ride does seem a lot better.
Doesn't seem to be as noisy over bumps either.
Don't know if this hepls much.
Btw you can get a full set of reps with budget tyres for the same cost a one rim from VW!!!
-
I'm not a cheapskate and you only get what you pay for.... but I'm still swaying towards the reps at present..
I will be attending the north east show at Sedgefield and I will get to see these two wheels in the flesh.
I need to see real against reps I think.

Bear in mind, a genuine monza is a genuine monza. But a monza rep is not just a monza rep.
My guess is there is probably 10s if not 100s of factories mass producing replica alloys in china. Each one kicking out their own take on the design and differing in quality.

Are these "reps" safe like ?
Do they pass the alloy wheel standard? If there is one?
-
In case anyone wants to know the weight of a genuine wheel, i've got one sat indoors at home with no tyre on and can weigh it if you like

If it's not too much trouble S2 Ant..
I'd like to know the difference
-
No problem, i'll weigh it this evening when i get home from footy
-
Great....Now has anyone got a Rep Alloy with no tyre they can weigh?
Thanks

I got my reps from a company called wheelbase. I spoke to a guy there on the phone for about 20 mins about the pros and cons of reps and how to look after them, really helpful. four brand new alloys with a mid range tyre for £510 delivered with center caps and new wheel nuts imo you cant go wrong.
I had genuine 17" monzas with goodyears and there is not so much road noise with the reps and mid range tyre as there was with the genuine and goodyears.
Regarding looking after them I covered them in jetseal and rim wax inside and out before fitting and wash once a week with born to be mild and no problems as yet.
End of the day mate its up to you and your budget. If money was no object i would have brand new genuine monzas with the best tyres money can buy. For the money i parted with for the reps i'm more than happy (at the moment) :happy2:
Pm me your email address and i'll sent you some pics if you would like.
