So Ive nearly killed my R1Rs in around 3000 miles, excellent tyres, best Ive ever used and make the GY F1 assys which I always bought before seem a bit lacklustre. Even now at min legal tread depth these tires just grip and grip once warm after 5 mins use, and I couldnt go back to a inferior tyre.
However last I heard a few months back the prices for the R1Rs have shot up and I dont really fancy paying nearly 200 notes per tyre.
So been having a quick look for a replacement and have found these for 150 notes a tyre. The yoyohama ADVAN Neova AD08, and by the sounds of it they are yokohamas equivelant of the R1R but with a better treadware rating than the R1Rs by 40.
Anyone tried these tyres? Seem to be v.popular in yank land so will give em a go!

subscribed as i have been considering these tires as well :happy2:

Will bite the bullet and get these fitted next week I think mate. Should hopefully be able to make a nice review with this tyre vs the r1r vs the gy f1 assys.
Just found out that these yokos are used as the control tyre for the world touring car championship racers

....But isn't the GY F1 Asymm just a good road tyre whereas the others are much more trackday orientated?
-
Have been in a Megane RstupidR with these Yokos on, they scream but never give up. Still no PSCup though.

Yep, surely that would make for a better review, seeing as most people on here are running sumer tyres of similiar performance of the F1 assy, and I can give advanatges and disadvantages of these trackday hybrids when compared to one of the best summer tyres :happy2:

Yeah, but along with being superior they're better suited to heavier cars and therefore don't overheat and wear out as a result quicker than they should.
Kumho V70a are a very good option too.

Price has already been stated as a bit off an issue though... If £200 is too much, that definitely rules out PS Cups!
-
Tough initial outlay, but £/mile is far better.
V70As in hard compound then :happy2:

Agreed. Cups might be over kill for my Fridge though. PS3s for me next. Contis are
-
Right I can get these yokos for 125 a pop, surely thats a good deal!
-
Toyo R888's are pretty good, I find they last 1.5 x as long as the cups i used to use, and were about 40% cheaper, yet were 90% as good as the cups, more feel but a little less grip......don't know best deal in golf sizes tho.....

EARS Motorsport have Pilot Sport Cups listed on ebay, £315 or best offer for a pair, thats by far the cheapest ive seen them anywhere :happy2:
-
£619 for 4 225/40/18.

Seems there's a lot of Cups coming into the market now in regular sizes, they used to be a right b***ard to get hold of.

Thats the place

You need these in your life, Chris.
I'm sure they're still road legal, for now - unless the reason they've come down is because they've removed the R-rating and are just selling them as track only now???
When do the new rules come in???
-
I'm not sure about these new rules
It does say on the listing that they are not road legal, but when I had my PS3's fitted the other week at costco the lad said that they were still selling/fitting cups but only to cars that came with them from the factory , like the gt3 rs ... They wouldn't sell them to me for my car :stupid:

And they're right not to. You're supposed to inform your insurance company if you so much as change brand from what I've read in Evo.
They must be road legal on the GT3/CSL etc... as they were a factory option? It must be a type approval thing.
