hi can anybody give me a rough guide how much it would cost to change my gti to a r32 rear end ie.back bumper&twin tail pipes what else is needed??
-
Rear bumper, £195, reflectors, £14, exhaust cover, about £60, Exhaust, Varies, depends if you want stock/Milly, or other aftermarket, If after a Milly, its about £400, so about £700, and then colour coding the bumper. about £100 more.
-
hi ialready have a milly exst can i just buy a back box to fit ex pipe work

Yes.

I too am sorting this out, but am wondering how easy it is to change the exhausts? At present I have to take it to Mr Tyres who change it for me, but they charge £40 each time, so would prefer to do it myself.

:happy2:

Nope. R32 is a V6, hence down pipes for 6 cylinders not 4. And routing is different, so R32 exhausts don't fit GTI :sad1:
-
not the full exhaust, just the back box?

Nope you need a R32 style, not a actual R32 back box. :happy2:

ah! thanks! damn people with the wrong information on ebay!

Milltek make them though they look crap, Blueflame do a better looking version, but you could just get a custom one made up as, it is just a straight through pipe. :happy2:

That is interesting.
I have bought a MK5 R32 Milltek exhaust off ebay, Will this not fit onto my MK5? What will I need to do in order to get it to fit/work (if anything) or where can I get the correct exhaust for my car?
Thanks

I am sure it can be modified, but it will probs be cheaper to put it back on the bay. and buy the correct one. To be honest all i know is they dont fit, so it might be a simple modification. :happy2:
-
I've just found this on the bay, has anyone used these? Or can i get them cheaper elsewhere?

Listing has been removed mate.
Though I take it that it was teh guy selling the complete rear for £240?
If so then I would just pay a bit extra and get a genuine bundle, I paid £195 for the rear, £28 for the reflectors, and got the lower exhaust part for £60 off here. Bit more expensive, but all genuine parts for piece of mind.

Yes that was the listing! Are the prices you paid stealer prices?
-
yep. :happy2:

Looks like a trip to the stealers is needed then

Will do, hopefully in the next few weeks when funds allow :happy2:

I just registered on R32OC and they have a group buy for R32 lower sections of the bumper, (the black part that goes around the exhaust) doing genuine carbon fibre ones for £145 inc postage, should only be a week until they arrive too. I can post pics when htey arrive, but think that the group buy may have ended by then.
Let me know if you want a link to it.
-
Does anyone have the part numbers needed for the R32 rear swap? Cheers.

GTI no, the fueltank is split on a R32 by the driveshaft, so the R32 Backbox goes along the same line as the driveshaft, the GTI has the fueltank in the middle and the exhaust routing over in the drivers side ( LHD) around the fueltank.
