I have notice that when on a private road and i do over 110mph ish the light come on and then stay on for awhile unitl going back of.
Not that often i over the ton mark but have noticed it, any idea why it does this? As i presume its to highlight to other cars there is a low flying object coming their way, but sometimes its also nice not to be so obvious ;)

.
I assume you mean your headlights. In which case I believe that they automatically switch on at speeds above about 90mph(?) but only on cars after a certain build date (thank goodness cos I don't like the idea).
-
Lights come on at roughly 89mph and turn themselves off again when you have been driving at under 50 mph for ten mins or more
These are actual speeds and not as indicated by the speedo
-
wow that really would be a annoying feature for me lol, not very discreet lol
-
.
For those who have this annoying 'feature' (I don't on my 06-build) can it be switched off via VCDS?
-
I understand it can - in fact as you (RR) dont have it and I had it on mine then it must (same year).
-
Yeah the headlights. Car is 56 plate 2007. Tbh i will double check the speed, but as said it is a bit annoying that the lights come on. Like advertising the fact you have been over the speed limit, when headlights are on, on a nice sunny day.

Where the lights in Auto mode?
-
Yes.
-
If they are set to off then they won't come on above the 89mph automatically IIRC

100% correct turn the auto lights off
-
The setting is under the rain light sensor coding and its highway lights
+1 Rain Closing
+2 Highway Lights
+3 Automatic Lights
The above may not be in order or exactly right but they are the 3 setting you can turn on and you just add the number onto each other in VCDS and thats it
