Just picked my TG magazine up off the doormat this morning and it has a real feast for hot hatch lovers this month.
Mega test involving the following cars...
Impreza Cosworth
Focus RS500
VW Golf R
VW Golf GTI MKVI
VW Scirocco R
Renaultsport Megane Cup
Renaultsport Clio Cup
Seat Ibiza Bocanegra
VW Polo GTI
Fiat Abarth Essesse
Alfa MiTo Cloverleaf
All timed up The Harewood Hillclimb with the Racelogic VBox.
No surpirises as to which one is fastest
Looks good :happy2:
-
just been reading it myself and the best hot hatch is the little clio
-
The 200 is a great car, no matter what power a hot hatch has you can't beat the little frenchies!
-
Just read that in-car footage is available on all the cars' runs on TopGear.com :happy2:
-
that scooby is going to be a monster when the re map guys get hold of it

Too right there Mat :jumping:
Just noticed the main bulk of the road sections are on the Honister pass near Buttermere in the Lake District. Glorious roads. I was there just a month ago :happy2:

I keep telling everyone those little Clio Cups are the way forward for cheap hooning - £199/month and have another seriously nice car for the sake of having a seriously nice car. Ruin the Clio around tracks.
-
I test drove a Clio 200 with the Cup chassis with my Dad a few weeks ago. He's buying one to replace his Clio 197. I must say I pretty much fell in love with that car. The one we drove was in a Marmite shade of green, my Dad's will be white with gloss black wheels. It's such an uncomplicated car and feels really quick and pointy. I'd have one in a second if I didn't need the practicality of a Golf.

whats the rated running order then. none of the shop near me sell the mag so i wont be able to get one for a while
obviously the impreza must be first, none of hem would cope against that power and grip.

:P

You wouldn't say no to a V12 TDi R8 though would you :P
-
nope, but id immediately trade it in for a petrol equivalent.
you've changed carl. you'll be involved in all these MPG threadso n brisky soon
-
Nope I have not changed.
I only have a diseasel as I need it. I still have my toy.
Anyway back on topic. Out of all those cars i would only have the impreza or the mkvi golf GTI ( and map & mod the fcuk out of it :signLOL:)
-
wouldnt buy a k03 again to costly to tune. it would have to be the k04 and prob the scirrocco R. not a fan of the golf.
although id take the impreza or focus before all of them

Best allrounder - Golf MK VI :happy2:
Best Driver - Renaultport Clio
Timingwise the Cossie Scooby was 1st, then the RS, then the Golf R.
Stiggie loved the Golf R :happy2: :driver:
-
so the golf was quicker than the scirroccoR :congrats:. all the vids ive seen lean the other way, although they were all dry conditions. were they in damp or dry conditions??

Just nipped down to Sainsbury's and they didn't have any of the mag in.
What do they have to say about the Polo GTI? For some reason I quite fancy one of those.
-
Nooo don't do it not for vw's asking price.. Buy an eddie insure it, mod it and fill it up with fuel for less than 18k
-
They said it was a shame that VW hadn't succeeded in making a smaller version of the Golf GTI :sad1:
-
I heard a lot of the runs were done in the tunnels of Leeds where me and my mate take his GTI regularly, for scientific purposes you see
