x2

and are quite an un-involving drive, or at least the one i had on an extended test a good few years back was.  in fact the good diesel A4 Avant estate i bought  felt better.

Au contraire.....

B6.5 version I drove felt rapid, it had been remapped and felt very good, certainly as quick as the M3 I drove the previous week, made a lovely noise, 4WD surefootedness was good, Estate was good, brakes were shocking sa it uses a 60mm version of the Mk5 R32 brakes which is like driving around with dustbins attached to your hubs.

I do recall thinking it being a good halfway house to the RS4 Estate which is on my wish list.

I suppose rapid is subjective all you maniacs ruuning around in staged ED30's will find it slow compared to me in my 140PD rocco

Different opinions are good.  mine was virgin standard, no map at all.  Just felt all show and no go.  I tested a a4 Avant TDi after, and it felt far more urgent during real driving.

Perhaps £500 and you release the car.............  They are nice cars though, very well trimmed.

If I did get an S4/RS4 it wouldn't be for it's pace, it would be for the noise it makes!

It was the same when I had the .:R, I didn't really want to drive it that quickly as it felt to lardy in comparison with the ED.

I ran a C5 S6 for some time when fuel prices were nearly sensible. It was reasonably quick, surefooted but more a cruiser than a sprinter.

If the S4 is anything like its bigger brother you will be very friendly with your local petrol station.  :chicken:

Got to agree with the comments on the S4, just didnt feel that quick at all and was very thirsty! I was far more impressed with the 3.0TDi!   :surprised:
