Title: Custom Milltek Edition 30 Tips - Gauging Interest
Post by: mackit on June 18, 2010, 09:11:19 am
Hi All,

For those of you who saw this in the group buy section I mistakenly added it there.  Apologies to site admin, I did not read the site rules.

I’m interested in purchasing a Milltek Edition 30 cat back system with custom Black tips.  Milltek have confirmed they can do this but as it would be a custom order there is a requirement for at least 5 orders.  The tips would be ceramic coated and I think will look fantastic.  Now 5 orders would need to be secured but it is only the tip that is being customised.  Thus, buyers could pick a resonated cat back, non resonated cat back or complete system for example.

I’m sure some of the retailers will be able to offer a competitive discount if an order of 5 is secured.  I would anticipate paying slightly more than a discounted Milltek edition 30 exhaust system that came with the typical chrome pipes.

Prices will be in the region of:
- Rear silencer on its own with black trims = £350
- Non resonated cat back with black trims = £450
- Resonated (quieter) cat back with black trims = £550

All prices would be including VAT and fitting.  If anyone would like them fitted themselves the prices would naturally be discounted further.

I believe these can be supplied in around 2-3 weeks from submitting the order.

Let me know if there is any interest in this.  If enough people are interested I can communicate with Milltek and some other retailers to see what deals we can get.  I’ll then contact site admin and see if we can get a group buy running.

Thanks

Chris.

Interested in this mate, what style are the exhaust tips? Are they the bigger normal milltek straight cut type? Or do they look more or less identical to the standard GTi tailpipe? - Would post pics but im at uni so no can do!

Here's a pic reference for you for slash-cut Satin Black tips:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FRedRobin_05%2FMods%2FMilltek_closeup_16Jun09.jpg&hash=57e061b4ff3f95c6fd754512ac04940a1456f251)

They are extremely easy to keep clean. I use a non-abrasive Meg's wax cream.

Hi Ben,

I think they are more of a slash cut as Robin has shown above.

Here is the picture from the Milltek website:

They are slightly larger than the Milltek exhaust pipes for the GTi; size is 80mm i believe.

Hope that helps.  :happy2:

.
If Milltek are doing a custom order, consider asking if you can have a shallow back box version which doesn't show from behind.

Good point, Robin.  Am i right in saying that the standard Milltek box hangs down quite a bit?

Would building a shallow box be any more costly, assuming they have a minimum order?

.........''standard'' Milltek box can be just seen under the lower bumper but doesn't look out of place.

Cheers for the pic Robin they're the ones I would be after, I have the slash cut Milltek pipes at the moment but normal finish.

Yeah definately try getting the backboxes to not hang down as much! I seem to be catching mine on speed bumps a lot!

I'm not a fan of chrome so for me this type of finish is ideal.  It looks like Wigit has de-chromed some bits of his car so i think it goes together very well.

My car is black as well so i like the idea the exhaust pipes being darker in colour.  I like things to be different but not to stand out like a sore thumb...if you see what i mean.

@Wigit - Any plans for darker alloys; anthracite or black perhaps?

@Everyone - If you are interested in this potential group buy please shout it out in a post.  I'll make a note of all interested names and then in a few weeks will email everyone to see if you are still interested.  I can then post a group buy accordingly following approval from site admin.  I know some may be interested but may not be putting budgets together until later in the year, so i will need to take things like this into consideration.

Like the tips, but with a silver back box on show it clashes a bit. Is that a normal res box Wigit?
