Title: Red brake calipers flaking off
Post by: s4lek on June 18, 2010, 02:49:12 pm
Hi does anyone know how much it cost to replace the rear red brake calipers, they are starting to peel off really badly now , the car is 2005 gti so Probably expected.  Do they cost alot to buy brand new or has anyone got any for sale. Or shall I just buy a tin of red paint.

It's kind of a shame they are the rears.  My front calipers are sitting around in my garage!!

....Apparently new they cost £148 each (£296).. I usually sell stuff at about 50%+shipping but they have done about 80k miles (totally problem free).. Does £120 the pair seem fair? I don't know what other people would charge and I want to be fair without giving them away.

If interested, I could bring them to Inters with me on the Sunday.

Cheers for offer but really looking for something cheaper , insufficient funds. May even have a go painting them.

No problem, s4lek - Cheaper option is definitely to repaint. Best to use proper caliper paint though - Savage have a red:
