Title: Back in a MK5
Post by: RobMKV on June 19, 2010, 06:24:46 pm
Sold the Candy Mk6 2 weeks back and got this as a kind of part exchange,

Not my first choice but got it for abit of a bargain  :innocent: and the potential is there,

GT TDi 140 4 Motion ideally would prefer 2wd
Solid Black
Factory Nav
Armrest and changer

As it came the prevoius owner had fitted 18'' r32 reps, rear Gti lower panel, GTi Sides, roof spoiler and rear windows tinted.

So far its mapped but have some plans over the next few weeks.

Gave it a quick clean today, on my 9th Golf now  :drinking:

Looks nice mate, looks as though the previous owner looked after it.
Mine me asking how much you paid, as the wife is interested in one of these.
Needs a thump with a stick though.

It was cheap enough  :P

Well after a just over 2 weeks its looking better,

H&R Supersports around 50mm lowered and some Audi BBS reps, 225/35/19 tyres which look great i think,

Just got to decide on later GT front or Votex lip hmm, -

Where did you get the reps from? Are they the ebay ones? They look good quality.

and where is the best place for a set of h&r supersports? I fancy changing my eibach pro kit to these.

oh and gt front end for me too mate but with the jetta grill black with chrome bars

cheers

Thanks peeps,

Wheels are from a supplier near work we use him alot but i think they all would be the same finish,
im not usually a fan of reps but the quality is great, really shiney finish.

H&R's are from Motorsport wheels and its settled down abit now since pictures, quite abit lower than Sportlines.

As good as the gt front is I'd try a badgless grill and something like a cupra chin spoiler.
Makes for a really clean simple look

Not wishing to Spam, and welcome to the forum.

I went early, as i found it a touch bland.  I enjoyed seeing old and new faces, and would have travelled up for the good banter and laughs had on the night before.

I was seriously considering a Forum camping meet, say arrive sat, have a few ales and a BBQ and have a good day on Sunday.

May be worth considering.  maybe the next track day at Combe?  The ring is always worth camping too, lots of good reports.

Hello folks
just been reading thru this thread.

your car is looking very nice.

i'm about to buy my first mk5 gti and was planning to use the Eibach Sportline springs with standard gti shocks, but understand the drop to be only 35mm ish. i probably want to go a little lower, but not coilovers at this stage.

You said earlier on that you've gone for the H&R springs, as they get it a little closer to the ground - but how do they compare on ride / handling and cost versus the Eibach s/line?

Hope you can help a newbie out and sorry for just diving in on your thread like this.

cheers

Iv'e ran an Edition 30 with the Eibach's and an R32 with the H&R's and I couldn't split the two in terms of ride comfort. If anything the H&R's were a tad harder but not by much and it doesn't make the ride uncomfortable in any way.

Your other alternative is to go straight for AP coilies as these are great value for money!(can be supplied and fitted by VWR Milton Keynes)  :happy2:

Sorry about going OT Rob!

cheers fella, thanks for the information.

i'm not sure about coilovers yet - i don't do track days at the minute and the roads are so bumpy around me I might not spend any time with tyres on tarmac if i uprated the damping.

which H&R springs are people using - the drop on Rob's car looks mint.

Rob, how much lower do you think it sits overall, now that it's settled?

thanks

That is VAG porn Rob

I absolutely rear end those wheels. I've a genuine set 7.5x18" and I thought they looked good on my car!...
They suit the black immensely. Are you happy with the ride?

Love the front profile with the grill too  :happy2: Tip top.
