With my usual flamesuit on. I read a lot about the raceland coilovers on the USA forum and good feedback in general for a great price. Has anyone here used them.
I need to sort my list. And its either the boxster brakes or handling mods like coils walk and arbs( not that I know much about what I'm talking about with them.
I really do need someone to talk me thru all the bits ,what they do and why I need them lol.
Let the flames begin.....

handling wise
ARBs
IMO the best mod that i did last time out of the coilovers, ARBs and WALK. Two chains of thought.
Upgrading both front and rear- this will keep the balance of the car very neutral whilst massively reducing body roll, and understeer. previosuly i had eibachs front and rear on mine and found it excellent although a little to neutral.
upgrading the rear bar only- this will change the balance of the car much more than doing both bars. it will potentiallly reduce understeer more overall, but induce oversteer more than doing both bars would. this time im doing te rear bar on its own, and will upgrade the front if i feel its more oversteering than i expect.
WALK
a good mod that will reduce understeer, and increase grip on bumpy surfaces and cornering. it works by increasing castor on the front, giving a heavier, self centring steering wheel, which is nice.
Alternative to WALK
Is the superpro castor control arm bush. the whiteline is a similar bush in a shiny mount, this is the same sort of bush that will go in your existing mount, for the same results at less cost.

coilovers/suspension
to be honest do you really need coilovers is a qquestion you need to as yourself, because a good set of springs and dampers might be exactly what you need.
Brakes
these porsche brakes look ace, and im very likely going to get myself a set after summer, hoever in the mean time im uprating my pads, hoses and fluid, which should give a very large improvement over stock.
And its either the boxster brakes or handling mods like coils walk and arbs
id say uprate your pads, hoses and fluid for the minute and see how you get on with them, and i the ARBs to your car. that way you will have greatly improved the two biggest weakpoints on the mk5. Body roll and brakes

that is very cool -answering with so much helpful info mate-thank you so much-
ive got few more questions-i am a very basic newbie-numpty but perhaps if i embarrass myself asking the dimbo questions it might save another doing it lol :sad1:

so arbs- if i,m not used to anything specific and i really dont do track days-just a lil spirited driving you think doing both will enhance my driving experience?-ill look into the eichback ones-or any others?
i,m happy with how my car sits on eichback springs so if replace them dampers that will get me better handling and/or stance??-any you recommend?
the car is due her service so if i get pads hoses and fluid upgraded that will impact on my standard, then when the cash is a little free-er ill upgrade to the porsche thangs. any good options on the brake bits you'd reccommend
so my list i need to get...
new tyres for the rs4's
brake hoses-
fluid-
pads-
dampers-
superpro castor control arm bush-
again thank you so much for the help-anyone else got their recommendations for the said items on my list altho VRSY-you been a great help.
come the autumn she will handle as good as she looks lol--oh better add intake and thats a whole new thread hahahahahahah

ok dumb question to follow a few more already dumb questions
the price of dampers is the same as say the fk/ap coilover kits(i think :ashamed:) is it not worth just getting the coilovers for the money?
sorry.....(as he runs for cover)

if your happy with your stance then why not give the dampers a miss altogether for the time being.
Most good damper sets will set you back £500+.
you might find that you really like the difference with the superpro bushes and eibach ARBs(also consider whiteline as well, they are highly regarded).
An alternative to the dampers could ber to fit the lower control arms fromn the TT. do a search for themon here, there are lots of threads about them now. they would also very likely be alot cheaper to buy and install than dampers as well

Thanks again mate.
I'll look into the arbs and super bushes and then see what I feel.
Keep ya posted!

cheap coilovers =
Stick with Eibach, Bistein, H&R for quality and comfort. Far too many pattern part coilover kits out there (Gmax, Pi, Raceland, ebay stuff etc)
-
Cheap coilovers destroyed my old car.
 "Buy cheap, buy twice"
-
B,C coilovers are top, Completely adjustable and I can now supply them, been approved as a dealer today.
drop me a line if you want some. :happy2:

Hi matsu :happy2:
ARB's are, as Sy says, a great mod and very underrated by many. You'll feel the benefits in road driving, especially roundabouts of course, but also less nose-dive under heavier braking etc.
-
I cant see how the ARBs wont help with the front end diving under braking, the springs would take care of that.
-
thanks lads :drinking: :happy2:

....I think you meant to say "I cant see how the ARBs will help.." - I fitted ARB's, KoniFSD's and Eibach springs at the same time and so I'm probably confusing things. Was a long time ago too back in 2005/6.
