Rare colour too if I'm not mistaken?
-
Very nice. One of my friends dads had a very early R32. I loved going out in that car! What plans do you have?
-
Looks mint :happy2: One of the lads we Know at Inters has a 3dr running a gt35 500bhp+
-
Cheers guys, Thats the good side I took the pics of :ashamed:
The car does have some issues that I need to sort out, Hence the reason for it be ing a project
-

The engine bay got the slightest of cleans, Didnt want to upset how it ran by getting water where it wasnt meant to go!

-

Im a valeter by trade & used "Autosmart G101" to degrease the engine, Then a light power wash & then some "Autosmart Krill" engine dressing

-
Thats my fav colour MKIV R32. how much if you dont mind me askin?
-
I bought it at what I think is a god price
When I got told about it & agreed to buy it without even seeing it my initial plans were to break it, But after seeing it & driving it back home I knew the paint could be save & the car put back to its former Glory.

i was thinking...id love one of those! then i saw..16.1mpg :signLOL:
-
i was thinking...id love one of those! then i saw..16.1mpg :signLOL:
Same here  I did end up on autotrader though
-
The 16.1 mpg was after a 4 mile journey in rush hour traffic at 5:30 pm, at one point I was stood still for just short of 10 mins due to roadworks,
On the same day on the way to work in the morning it got 24.8 on a 9 mile trip,
So not that bad

That was after a 19 mile trip on the motorway.
-
^ ^ ^
Even though you can see '£' signs falling out the exhaust, it's worth it for that sound and traction IMO
...And 28mpg is good anyway! Struggle for that in mine urban driving.
-
Cant beat the V6 Soundtrack!
-
An expensive soundtrack  But indeed, worth it.
Any loose clues to the plans then Chris? Or even the areas you have in mind to target?
-
Well the car is nearly up to scratch again now, Fitted new seatbelt tensioner & Air bag module today, got the paint to nearly how it should be, Just need to decide if ill source a spoiler for it or not.?
Once the log book comes back it will be getting advertised for sale
-
I see, fair play :congrats:
When you say spoiler, do you mean front splitter or a rear spoiler?
If the earlier, then an LCR splitter would look very tidy I reckon :happy2:
I presume from the way you're talking this isn't your first and won't be your last project?
-
I meant the boot spoiler, The LCP Splitter does look nice on the R32 Bumper, but its still got its origional 2 black R32 lower splitters so ill leave them on,
Its not my forst project & wont be my last, The last 2 I did was a MK4 GT TDi that ended up with R32 front, R-line rear, Full leather Recaro, Audi TT wheels, Previous to that it was a MK4 GTi 1.8t, That ended up with the full Anni kit & a set of BBS LM reps, (Those were my personal cars though)
I have also within the last year bought & repaired 2 projects, 1 was a MK2 Fiesta XR2 that was looking very sorry for its self, The other was a rare colour Amafi Blue MK4 Xr3i cabriolet that had also been neglected.
-
Got bored Today with the weather being rubbish so I eddited one of my pics

Also liked this pic of 2 generations of Golf's together

Decided I would enable the "Miles to Empty" & illuminated needles feature aswell
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fc339%2Fchris246%2FS7000034-2.jpg&hash=4f9265fb38042ad5ef289e6a1e04b9f943ab3bcf)

took the car out last night,
whilst I was out it felt like it was holding back and had a slight missfire, after a bit it felt normal again though, after about 20 mins the Engine light started to flash and then stayed on,
the car was missing quite a lot so I limped back home, put vagcom on it and it showed missfire on cylinder 5.
looks like it was coil pack, rang tps up at 8:20 this morning and had a new genuine one here for 10:00. will fit it tonight and take it for another run
-
Sorry to hear you had cylinder/coil probs Chris. Looks like you actioned it more than ASAP :happy2:
We need some vids of the exhaust/sound if I'm honest
Are you hoping to sell it on for more, or balance your books?
-
I think this could have been the cause of the problems
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi30.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc339%2Fchris246%2FS7000047-1.jpg&hash=f554ed5dab1b1c503136b930dd2f37ece749235c)

But after a little issue trying to remove it I replaced it with this
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi30.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc339%2Fchris246%2FS7000050-1.jpg&hash=17c859276e76c7f1fd2941e8db209192860fbc30)
Genuine VW item, (Remember the saying "Buy cheap buy twice!)
It now runs & sounds even better than it did when I first bought it, So that makes me think it had been ready to pack in before & the drive the other night finished it off.
As for the selling it on, Im hoping to make a little on it, There is one on Ebay now on a cat D but not yet repaired & thats up at £5000
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170511428884&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
-
Does look in bit of state that ^
Reckon you've got a bit of power back that you might of lost?
Why the link to a CatD .:R? If yours is hunky dorey, won't it be worth near double that one fella? Especially in a colour that rare, adds a bit of novelty tax?
-
Think it was down on power, I put the link up to that R because mine is also a cat D
-
^ Ah I see - okay. I just caught your thread on R32oc afterwards actually and realised the relevance :happy2:
I'd absolutely love one of these when I have the opportunity and budget, so I'm pretty envious!
What's the current personal ride, is that the MK5 GT TDi?
-
Yeah my normal car is the GT TDi
-
Took it out to get some pics whilst we had some fine weather

Very tidy Chris. Everytime I catch this thread I think I should get myself some .:R fun! I nearly bought an A3 with the V6 engine previous to getting my GTI. The fuel would've been silly at the time, but one day...
BTW - has the rear boot spoiler been taken off?
-
For some reason its got a different tailgate on it, Dont know the reason in this but Im on the look out for a spoiler if I can get one at the right price.
Looks like a standard Golf with twin pipes on it as it is now, Seems to attract alot of people driving quite close wanting to find out what it is
-
^ Heh, I bet. Costs too much to show them all a new pair of heels.
Think I saw this in eBay earlier Chris, sad news if it's going already :/
