lot of threads on this one matey use search & there are loadsa pages to read through, as i did!!!
mine was replaced under warrenty 10 months ago, total cost over £1000, its now booked in again for next wk as its stopped again!!!
common fault on the gti and a pricey one at that!

As above, but mine is still OK (touch wood, fingers crossed, etc etc!!)

Had the same thing happen on my 06 GTI. Got it fixed last year just before the warranty expired. Its an expensive fix which is a cheek as it seems to be a common issue.

Try this for a cheaper remedy

cheers mate will look into that option been looking for compressors on ebay they are cheaper obviously and some come with warranty but dont know what to do if it is as common as it seems to be then surely they should call the cars back as the is clearly a fault with the part

I bagged myself a used compressor from Ebay that was from an MY08 GT TDI that had covered just 3000 miles, salvaged with no substantial front end damage for £130. If you keep an eye out, you can find them for reasonable green :happy2:
I'm paying my regular Porsche/VW specialist this side of £200 to fit it, so much much less than the four figures that VW would want all in. Have a scout around the bay mate and any local contacts you've got, worth a call.
For any guidance, HTHs

I'm not too sure as I've asked that question myself, but ensure you get the VW part number for any compressors that you're looking at and check on here or with your dealers parts department that it's the right one for your vehicle :happy2: It's a lot of money to get the wrong one

^ Yep, that's the one I purchased I believe.
I think they can be had for less than £300 but not necessarily manufactured by Sanden, I know there are other brands out there that do just as good a job.
