Title: Water pump
Post by: Syrag64 on July 02, 2010, 03:31:36 pm
I'm having cambelt done on monday, so i thought i'd get waterpump done at same time (car done 63k) i've just ordered a water pump from stealers, should i have gone to eurocarparts? or is it better to get genuine parts?

Given the hassle of fixing it if it goes wrong I think its worth spending a couple more quid on the genuine article.  They are only about £30 from the dealers.  That said, one with a metal impellor rather than the OEM plastic is probably better.

Why make something in metal when you can make it in plastic and it can last half as long :stupid:

if anything was 2 go on iver 1 it would be the bearing not the impellors lol

atm I very much doubt that you'll find a pump with a metal impeller for the Mk5.   :sad1:

Cheers guys looks like i made the right choice

Think i've got a slightly noisy release bearing too,  :scared: is it anything to worry about?  Will be upping the power in the near future hopfully, so i expect i'll be putting a new uprated clutch anyway!

Always go genuine on itwms like that as the water pump isnt the strongest part on the mk5 gti. mine was done under warranty at 20k as it was noisey!  :surprised:
