Title: Air con blowing hot air

Read a lot of horror stories about aircon compressors failing on mkv gti's

my 55 plate gti will only blow hot air when climate control is on, if i press the "econ" button the air blasted out is cooler but still not ice cold.

When i turn the aircon on i get a clicking noise.

Does this sound like a faulty compressor?

Could be your pressure switch mate as thats whats wrong with mine on my 07 ed30 think its £42 from the dealer :happy2:

it blows red hot air no problem, put it to low and it just blows out room temperature air, hit econ and it cools a little but not much

if it was the compressor would hot air still work?

Not sure mate but mines is doing the exact same thing got my friend to re-charge the gas and you could here it leaking from the pressure switch in the engine bay when he started filling it up!

i have the same problem on my 06 gti i was told it was the compressor and vw dealer want £1200 to fix it. :driver:

these little niggles really spoil the enjoyment of the car

When you press the econ button it switches the aircon off.

When my compressor went, it blew hot air at whatever temp/setting I had it set to.

the higher i put the setting the hotter the air get till its toasty warm, anything below around 22 and it doesnt get any colder as i say unless i press "econ" and then it gets a little cooler, strange one

yeh she asked if i wanted to book the car in for it to be fixed i told her to get f*cked i go asda for £10 cool bx and cut eyes out and drive round with that on my head and said it was the compressor not a engine i wanted,she even said that was with discount on the labour from 85 an hour to 75 and hour. they must have your man bates from microsoft working for them lol
