Title: edition 30 flat spot
Post by: flyboy1976 on July 03, 2010, 04:57:26 pm
hi all, still cant resolve why im finding that the car holds back under WOT in the higher gears. mods includes S3 intercooler, forge twintercooler, bkr7eIX plugs, hpfp,rs4 valve, revo 2+ 6/4/6  milltek exhaust/intake etc.no fault codes in vcds and all coil packs are new, revision D diverter valve and N75 is new also!!!! im at a loss, does anyone have any clues, typically happens at 5k rpm...its happens without the traction control, it does feel like the timing pulls back tbh. Cheers in advance if anyone can help

Hi mate

why are you Revo settings so low, I have fiddled with my settings quite a bit and have the same mods apart from the twin intercooler. I have found that the greatest settings for sheer accelaration & overall oem smoothness, has been B9 T7 F9 and will pull in each gear up to 7.5k. These settings have no flat spots what so ever

all the best

I also every 5k run STP fuel injector cleaner through the tank, just to ensure the injectors are working as they should

FUEL 9???? Thats the leanest value as the fuel values work in reverse!

Exactly.

A car like yours will normally run something like B9T6F6 but logging it will be the best way to know what settings are optimal / safe.

Has it been logged to see if the timing is pulling back?

Cheers steve,

its set to 8 6 5 and still does it, im running on shell super and always have done, it seems to happen in 5th between 5k prm and clears at 6k so just in that 1000rpm bracket all other gears are brutal with the revo software, huge grin factor! i did the RS4 valve but its not cleared the issue as i thought it might, dont have a lead to data log on vcds but would be great to see whats happening, its def not a misfire or a stutter just a slight flat area within the rpm range and only in 5th gear but of course only tried this on a private road  :innocent:

Very interested in this topic i have the exact same problem with the exact same spec without the cooler? Flat spot at 5k rpm every time? Went stage2+ at inters running 8/4/5 on the lower setting until i can afford £1k for a clutch and then it will get turned up 9/5/5 as they advised. Stevie.

same prob im running 9 7 6 you dont feel the flat spot so much if you drop the boost to 7 but its not as good.

flat around 5200 to 5700 then picks back up weird didnt make any diff with the rs4 valve

Have you changed your clutch...?

Don't think I've noticed any flat spots at stage2+ with B9 T5 F7... it just flies! :)

It is the revo files at fault, change your fueling to 9 and it will disappear, if your running the software from 2010.

If the map has been uploaded to your car recently that wont work, because of the latest software update. Im in the same boat atm and revo say there is no issue, which there is but only affects a few cars.

My stage2+ ed30 car has always suffered the same beyond boost setting 6 albeit less pronounced since the RS4 valve (currently b8t6f6) - no errors found logging mine.
Interesting to see if anyone else has noticed if leaning out fuel improves matters. tbh as I can drive around it e.g by using higher gears it's not (in my opinion) worth the likely reduction I'd need to make to timing.
