What would you do if you got a puncture and you had a BBK fitted on the front?
Presumably, the standard space saver wheel would not fit?
-
use the rear wheel for the puncture and put the space saver on the rear.
-
Thanks TC.
Wots ur preference...should get a spare Monza II and carry it in place of the space saver... not too keen on the adding extra weight though.
Also, I'm assuming it would fit in the back.
-
I carry the space saver its fine to get you to the garage. :happy2:
-
I agree on just swapping a rear, but a full sized alloy probably weighs less than the space saver, you'll need the R32 boot inserts though to lift the false floor.
Buy a cheapo 17" Monza, job done.
-
Can you explain about what the false floor and R32 insert thingy is all about...? Thanks, Mo
-
I haven't got a pic, but basically the R32 has 2 polystyrene inserts that sit on the boot floor either side of the wheel to raise the false floor/carpetted cardboard thing up high enough to clear the spare.
Make sense?
-
The R32 doesn't have a full size spare its just it has an elevated boot floor thanks to the 4WD.
-
You can run a full size spare if you have the inserts.
Also, the R32 has a much more rigid boot carpet IIRC. without this, its a bit of a mess using the floppy boot carpet from the GTIs

Anyone got photos from an R32 so I can visualise this...
