Per the header.
Noticed the little symbol when I start up, wondered if it actually works. Without having to empty my water bottle to find out.
Secretly expecting disappointment with it to be an option with a winter pac or similar...
Wifes Pug seems to have more toys as standard, as she keeps telling me :signLOL:

yeah but do they work!!! had a gti 180 for a bit and it had all the toys but they never all worked!!
-
so no gti has a washer level sensor in the bottle?
my 06 gti has no winter pack so it should not work ?
is this the case :surprised:
-
Mine does come on when there isn't much water left, however I don't know if I have the Winter Pack or not. What else does it have?
-
Mine works no idea what packs i have got, its all very complicated.... :signLOL: :signLOL:
-
My car has xenons and no winter pack but has the level sensor :happy2:

:signLOL: True that Mark.
Just to note nc35, I've got the winter pack + Xenons and I've never had a low fluid level warning for the windscreen/washer fluid levels but I've topped it up plenty of times, just as I knew it was low - I.e. it has to get very low (few squirts left) before it tells you.
-

I think the winter pack includes heated seats and heated windscreen washers and headlight washers.

Haha, got none of that!
-
Got the warning on mine, though I think I have the Winter Pack.
-
I dont have heated seats but have got washer warning so dont think i have winter pack....
-
I think if you have xenon headlights then it has the low fluid warning as you get the bigger 5L washer reservoir instead of the 3L. Do you have xenons ILOVETUNA?

Indeed i do... :drinking:
-
You get the low washer warning if you have the larger washer fluid tank, and this comes with having the headlamp washers, with either winter pack or with xenon headlamps.

....I hope you don't use just water in your screenwash system. I've read that what you use is critical for the jets.
My 05-plate 06-build has Xenons, Winter Pack, no heated seats, and gives warning when washscreen is nearly empty. I always carry spare fluid in the car as I got caught out one filthy morning driving towards a blinding sun on a wet and dirty M-way.

Nah, I use the concentrated washer fluid from Sytner VW, diluted with water.

Make sure it is the genuine VW screenwash fluid in the grey 1 litre bottle, rather than the cheap shyte Quantum screenwash which is just meths and will clog your jets - which VW stealers also sell. The genuine VW stuff will go down to minus 70deg C when used neat, so check.

I got caught out one filthy morning driving towards a blinding sun on a wet and dirty M-way.
Did you not check beforehand?
Before every long journey (typically the weekend before and the night before), I check all fluids and top up where necessary. Even one day when I was using the washers almost every twenty minutes or so over a 200-mile drive, I still had a fair bit left.
-
Before I fiddled with my headlamp washer settings in VCDS, I could empty a full washer bottle in a day! :stupid:
-
I had a rant about this when mine ran out, ridiculous that it doesnt come as standard as should highline :fighting:
-
On the GTI highline should really have come standard along with xenons IMO.
-
Bizarrely I haven't got the Winter Pack, or xenons, but my car still has the washer fluid warning.
-
A little while ago...
"Hans! We haf some of zese sensors spare in ze parts bin! What to do?"
"So, ve just put zem on ze cars in build now!"

....I tend to check now. I always check the coolant level but sometimes forget the wash fluid level.

Nope
-
Ive got a leek in my washer fluid bottle ive got absolutly Zilcho water in it and ive got no light illumination, so ive either not got it or its broken. Ill be repairing it next week so ill check to see if there is a float switch or sensor type thing.
-
How'd you manage to get a leak in your washer bottle?!
-

....Hit by a sharp object from below? Similar impact via open foglight panel? [I'm guessing].
-
Feck knows I'm thinking it was from the harsh winter, expanding fluids from them freezing and cracking the bottle, hose or loosening a connection. I never really use the washers because my car is kept pretty clean but I noticed the other month and went to fill it up a few weeks ago and it all spilled out the bottom.
