Had the phone call that almost everyone with family doesnt want to get, to hear some of your family have been envolved in a serious car accident.
Got the call to go rescue them, Very fortunately nobody was hirt but if it wasnt for my brother-in law and wife getting out as quick as they did, i think i would of lost them.
Basically their car had broken Down ( Renault Clio) and they got out of the car to call the AA breakdown recovery, and whilst waiting for recovery crew to arrive, adam my brother -in law decided to go back to the car to retrieve his wifes handbag from the footwell. Just as he was walking away from the car, a artic Lorry who plainly wasnt paying attention, didnt see adams car at the side of the road and this is what happened................

Rolled the lorry onto its side, and made 2 other cars crash, fortunalty no fatile injurys , but only the lorry driver got taken to Hospital.
Was on a Road near christchurch yesturday tea time around 6.15 ish.
My brother and his wife were quite shaken up by this as you can imagine.
So just goes to show why you should never stay sat in a car if you ever break down.Especially as there was no hard shoulder.

Lucky escape that one mate. Someone upstairs was looking out for them.
I think they should be buying lottery tickets this week.

Sleeping/on phone I reckon. Shocking that he did not see the car. Just goes to show that no matter how good a driver you are, the risks are other road users.

Not paying any attention., just in a world of his own. Hope the police throw the book at him.

^^^^
In some parts of the country the Police have started using Police trucks so that they are at the same level as a truck driver and can see in the cab. Very effective apparently. They're fully equipped with blues 'n two's etc. Most bad incidents involve trucks apparently.
-
Holy sh!t, that's scary! :scared: crazy mofo driving that lorry should be put away :surprised:
Very glad that they weren't in that for sure!
-
It's seriously lucky no-one was in the car, glad everyones ok.
Not wanting to tar all wagon drivers with the same brush (because they do a good job, we'd be pretty screwed without them) but last month just at my road end a wagon driver had a sneezing fit whilst behind the wheel and ended up leaving the main road, going through a hedge, into a field and right through a churchyard taking a full row of headstones with him before coming out the other side. They can be bloody dangerous things at time!

Apparently, it was a 44 Tonne lorry that struck it!!.Clio isnt gonna stand much chance!!

Saw one of them on the M62 had pulled a lorry over, we thought it was a tow truck with blue lights on  but when we got closer realised it was a cop truck then we were even more .
Maybe they have jet engines in the back

It does smack of something that would be in a cartoon but it's still very scary.

Glad nobody got hurt.....cars can be replaced but people can't :happy2:

No one was hurt so in a way I suppose it is quite funny in a way, especially with it being a sneezing fit that caused it
Imagine if one of your family that was buried there though, not very nice :scared:

....True, but in most comedy situations someone 'suffers'. It's just that I can see the funny side. There were a couple of hysterically funny moments at my 4yo son's burial.. It's very important to be able to still appreciate and enjoy comedy in all situations.
This, of course, is different to Steve's family close call.. I haven't seen any comedy elements in that.
-
Yeah I totally agree with what your saying.
Looking at that Clio, theres barely a back end left on it :surprised:
Matt
-
I cannot believe they got out of that unscathed! :scared: :surprised:

....My understanding is that they got out before the truck piled in and did the damage.

blimey just seen the pic of the rear, you can see why it is recommended you get out of the car and stand in a safe place, i'm an advocate of high vis vests too

TBH it doesn't matter whether the car is French or not. Hardly any hatchback/family car is going to come out well if a lorry goes into the back of it.
