Ok i have had some ( what i think ) stupid quotes to do an Oil & Filter change on the DSG box. Cheapest one was £170
How easy is this to do? Is it something i can do myself on Axle stands or does it have to be done by a Dealer?
Cheers
Carl

Needs a special filler tool. JKM has one.

Do you know this for sure

VW Fixed service plans do no include DSG services, or indeed CAMbelt changes. £170 is a fair price for the work, the oil (mineral oil) ain't cheap.

I don't know for sure however I am guessing you are on Time and Distance servicing and that will basically get you the next 2 services. DSG service is 40k so you wont even come close to the service department telling you that its not covered.
I had a service plan on my Ed and the first thing I asked was is the DSG service covered. The answer was a resounding no.

Ahh, that makes sense, i asked if it covered everything and they said yes LOL

The oil on its own is the bulk of the cost. 7ltrs of transmission oil at around £14 a litre = £98. Then the cost of the filter, so realistically you are only paying for 1hrs labour.

When your up this way next weekend book yourself into awesome GTI in irlam,
They did mine and i waited while was being done.
All in £150 !
Which is v good price and the guys were trained by VW specialists as you need to do temperature checks on the oil while running and to be honest is a bitch of job !
Awesome GTI all the way !
And again thanks for the help with my RNS !

With the parts making up a considerable size of the final bill i presume the garages won't really alter much in the way of prices.
Good idea on buying the oil from eBay. As long as you go VW oil you could always tell the garage to use that and just charge an hours labour.

Is the oil change interval 40,000 miles OR 4 years , which ever comes first?
-
2 years according to my Handbook.
