Well you've all well and truly beaten me to it - journey home took a bit longer as I was busy fiddling with all me new buttons!

Big thanks from me also to Darren for fitting my RNS510.  I am proper chuffed with it - it's an ever better piece of kit than I imagined.  I can only echo what Chip and others have said before in recommending Darren - top man.  :happy2:

The afternoon was made even more enjoyable in meeting a couple of other forum members and having a good old chinwag about all things Mk5 over a brew courtesy of Missus M.

I hope your face cools down soon enough Chip and your missus enjoys playing with the new toy.  I'm off to check my bank balance...!

Poor old chip. I guess being 'booked into' a later slot meant I didn't catch so many rays. Plus your car was so shiny it musta reflected a fair bit of u/v. Mine was too dusty

The Mrs did notice the RNS and was quite impressed with it! Did anyone else catch the sun? I look like a ribena berry :surprised:

Hee hee my Mrs is a non driver, and didn't notice my MFSW buttons. Considering she hasn't noticed the RNS510, Cruise control, and centre console armrest and vents, I felt pretty safe sneaking the buttons under the radar.

I wonder if she'll notice an ED 30 rear end, and a Highline...

Chip, thanks to your ebay spot, I bought the Ed30 valance on Fleabay. Once it's here, it's straight down to the bodyshop, and I can ditch the grey plastic backside. Thanks for the spot, matey :happy2:

I too would also like to say a massive massive thank you to Darren for helping me out over the past couple of weeks. He’s sorted me out (& fitted in no time) a RNS510 and has also been helping me with retrofitting folding mirrors – which has been a total nightmare but Darren has been a star on several occasions and I can’t thank him enough for all his help. All in all, an around top bloke. Cheers Darren  :congrats:

Steve, I'd like to know how the mirror fitting is going. I remember asking the stealer to be told that it was quite impossible to retrofit them.

Steve, I'd like to know how the mirror fitting is going. I remember asking the stealer to be told that it was quite impossible to retrofit them.

Well, good and bad! In theory it's pretty simple - you just need new mirrors (eBay),  new mirror switch (eBay) & new door controllers, inside the door that the mirrors plug into (VW dealer but eBay if you are very lucky!) and then you just need to code the controllers to do the folding mirrors. This is the bit that Darren is finding tricky cos I've had to buy new (MK6) ones from the dealer which seem to be a bit different to code than the older (MK5) ones. So I have now retrofitted the mirrors and they do fold, but the ambient lights underneath and heater don't work - well, as in Darren can't figure out the right code to get them to work with out disabling the rear doors
