just bought a mk5 golf, has an aftermarket radio in it and want to replace it with its original, if I buy one off ebay will I need a code and if so where would I get the code from?

Whatever you do, DON'T buy an RCD300/310.............. Sounds like a wasp in a tin can.  :laugh:

What model and year of Golf is it for?

it is for an 04 plate gt tdi, if I bought a radio could I go to the dealer to get the code?

It came standard with the RCD300 (one in the for sale section now for £10!). Yes the dealer can get the code for you for £15-£20.
