Guys,
My soot chucker has just clicked over 53k miles and whilst the warning light isn't on yet, the front pads are pretty worn with only a few mm of friction material left. I'm looking to change them and also the fornt discs, as they too look pretty worn with quite a deep lip around the top, so I though I might as well.
Seeing as my car doesn't need super high performance brakes, and the current set up seems to be fine for me, I was wondering if anyone could recommend either going for original fitment VW Discs and Pads from the stealer, or if there are any other equal quality aftermarket brands that might be a little more cost effective.
As I said, I'm not after grooved or drilled discs or fast road or track pads, just a pretty standard set up.
Cheers
Andrew

If you know the p/ns you and after give David at SERE a shout
See my thread here;

I just bought all the service items for my ED30 from there. He is a SEAT Dealer and gives upto 40% off RRP. The p/ns for the service items were common to the Leon Cupra and ED30, so I'm guessing your brake parts may be as well.

Thanks Rob,
I've send David a quick mail. We'll see what he can do :happy2:

They have wear indicators on the passenger side, think most of the info you will need will be in the links that TT has provided here:

I used the guide to change my front pads as well, was all very simple, although the discs will be a different kettle of fish.

Correct, only front passenger side has brake sensor

Just to let you all know, David from SERE Motors in Ireland (the contact that Rob posted at the start of this thread, has com back with the following:
Front Pads £36.31 (pair)
Front discs £58.00 (pair)
Parcelforce Delivery £10.00
All prices incl. VAT and are genuine VAG parts with full VAG Warranty.
Just compared it to my local dealer and they wanted £68.00 for the pads and £112 for the discs - a pretty good saving then.
Will be ordering from him next week (when I get paid).
