Folks just a quick question
I have a PD140 DSG Octavia.
Is the 6 Speed DSG that is in the car the same as the 6 Speed DSG that you find in Petrol Golf's, Octavia's etc?
Reason I ask is I'm going to get the car mapped (it's done 66k miles) and want to know what a safe torque limit is.
Cheers

you might be able to have the DSG remapped which i think alolows it to run extra torque, without it cutting it out

I don't want it to run extra torque though. I just want to know wether its the same box and what the safe limit is.
I'm getting it mapped by Ben so he will make it safe anyway just want to know out of curiosity.
I'm getting the map for Better economy not power :innocent: :innocent:

My car has 36K on the clock...been remapped from about 1 month old.
Car peaks at around 340 lbs torque - don't want to tempt fate but had no problems. Not sure about the safe limit though.

Only getting a Stage 1 map so will get around 280lb/ft so that will do fine

I believe the DSG box itself is the same, and has the same torque limits, the gearing may be different. Hence why they never used to pair it up with the 170 TDI which put out over 350 lb ft. but as has been shown they can take extra torque without failure.

All the FWD DSG's are the same for the 140pd,GTI,Edition30 and 170 common rail diesels. It is rated at 350nm NOT 350lbft, however the DSG software uprates the torque handling capacity substantially. :happy2:
