After spending a few hours washing, polishing and glossing my pride and joy today i noticed the bonnet is absolutly riddled with stone chips. Now I have not had the car long maybe 3 weeks so it must have been the previous owner but I have never had it this bad. It just ruins all my hard work. Now I know some of you will say get some kind of detail pen, however I'm worried this will leave blotches all over the bonnet and make it look worse? Has anyone got any suggestions?? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

If it's peppered it'll need a respray mate

I was worried someone was going to say that, how much will that set me back? To be honest, I'm not an expert but I don't think it's that bad just yet.

Carbon wrap it. It will cover the chips and help prevent any more developing

Forgive me, I don't know what you mean by carbon wrap it! Thanks.

Get some 3M carbon wrap film and wrap the whole bonnet in it.

i think VAG cars in general use a really fin layer of paint. All of the ones i have seen are the same

Once you respray, your make the paint softer and make it even easier for stone damage.
Colour Polish will help mask some, but it will always have some. Or dont drive it?.
If you own Red, you will know this. Just gotta live with it.

I Ike the suggestion not to drive it! That would solve a lot of problems. My car is reflex silver. Don't know if that effects anything.

One of the problems with water bassed paint, it's very soft & easy to chip. :sad1:

I see, I used to have a Citroen c4 vts and that was in silver, didn't have one chip in the paintwork. I will just have to accept it, as the gti is infinatly better than the c4!
