Title: my graphite blue gti
Post by: Andy01 on July 22, 2010, 10:01:40 pm
Hi , just registered up so thought I'd post some pictures of my motor , had the car for 18 months and apart from a dodgy injector the cars been great .
first little mod was a vwr pannel filter
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2F016.jpg&hash=d446b4cfb6468bb4b42932f716aa18b3d9f7b4d9)
Then changed the 17's the car came with for a set of O.Z superturismos
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2FDSC00438.jpg&hash=966fdf8e3ac8c810588adde6706e35a3436abdef)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2FDSC00643.jpg&hash=d3ed2d4396359012d3b54acb7792685b82def549)
I started to want a bit more power so went for a bluefin stage1 remap which at first i was happy with but since had it taken off and had the handset reset - which is now for sale.
next on the list was a set of springs from vwr. few pictures from the day :(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2FDSC00638.jpg&hash=6c0fca81f2184beed4018d9cda1574b10e6fbdc4)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2FDSC00639.jpg&hash=0b736eb038a00220174ad38c5e66eac2e5cb0fb9)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2FDSC00640.jpg&hash=577f52193ab2dca9e5d92c2ec8751e776fc39cae)(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fyy245%2Fandyd02%2Fgti.jpg&hash=51477f4a6998bd63fb793c54b6cffa4adff350ab)

I tried fitting some Super Turismos to my first Mk1 Punto. They lasted just 2 days, before the situation went quite wrong!

So being a bit envious, I'm glad to see you got everything right Andy as they look quite stunning. I think they're a great OEM+ option for the Mk5 GTI or R32.
The colours very nice being one of the rarer ones  :happy2:

what went wrong  ? I forgot to put the spigot rings on first time round which caused some mental wheel wobble when I joined the motore way !

Basically, I whacked them on with radius bolts when they should've been tapered (perhaps the other way round?! They were just little 15"s). Either way, between fitting them on the saturday via a professional national chain who didn't highlight any issues, by the Tuesday they flew off at 55mph so I ended up with a flat bottom brake disc, 4 mile tailback and wet shoes from retrieving the stray offside OZ which had sheered off into the field on the left

Wasn't too funny at the time, but looking back on it sort of is now. Learnt a valued lesson though. If it was the drivers front that came off, I may not be here in the same state I suppose as I would've veered off towards the oncoming traffic as it was single C/Way :ashamed:

Yours look the business though and I'm relieved to see they're fitted properly

^ Mine are Speedline Corse Turinis in silver & 18x8 chap :happy2:

And it was genuinely good to learn what losing a wheel at speed is like incase it ever happens again, joking apart  :scared: :signLOL:

one of the nicest colors on the GTI by far. Like that it's rare too. Don't think we got that color over here in New Zealand.

So what's next on the cards?

True but you could get it on the pirelli.

Yeah the dealer I brought the car from had a graphite blue pirelli - I regret not streching my budget and getting it to be honest . I know it's not everyones cup of tea but I love the interior on them , and a ko4 turbo would have been nice !

Yeah my list of next mods is as follows : r32 rear lights , vwr anti roll bars , miltek non-res , revo stage 2 ,
