got my car on coilovers a few weeks ago and was running monza 2's with a 225 tyre, only got a rub on very heavy turn in at speed.
just got some pascaras with a 235 tyre and if i sneeze they rub!
can i move the lining inside he arch? is there room to move it up? is this the done thing?
-
first off, do you rub front or rear??
i assume in the front, you can remove the screw on top that holds the lining and move the lining on top of the fender piece for the screw, or buy Seibon carbon fenders to get 10 mm more clearence in front :P
Or Audi TT mk2 lower control arms which gives you a chance to run more camber thereby getting more clearence in the top :happy2:
-
When I move it up, will it drop down or stay in place?
Cheers for the help!

Good question about moving the lining, Mr Edd :happy2:
-
there's an "ear" on the wing/fender that the screw is fitted to. push the lining above that ear and it will stay in place :happy2:
-
Ok had a blast and I saw the ear! Its not easy to move is it?? I will try again after lunch haha and will get a picture before and after if anyone is interested?
-
if you need more clearence after the screw mod, you can also bend the ear slightly upwards

....I'm definitely interested :happy2:. I only experience a rub if carrying speed into a hairpin but I'd rather not hear any 'chirping' at all.

Its pretty easy to do Ed, you just have to be careful when bending the ear back as not to break the paint, i would heat up with a hair dryer first to be sure.
if you are planning to take it to the ring soon then the liner mod aint going to help you round there. If you are getting rubbing under normal conditions, then a lap round there ( especially the carousel ) will find you out.

....No, not done on mine, TC. It's as you say, only happens in more extreme circumstances on the Ring (didn't happen at Spa). :happy2:
