Hello,
I picked up my mk5 just over a week ago, but today i have a strange problem... My keyfob opens the car, but it won't turn in the ignition, if I try to force it to turn the radio comes on briefly, however I am unable to keep it in that position. I do have a second key, but I'm about 75 miles from home :scared:
Any ideas?

That is a strange one are you in a break down service
-
I am... I'm waiting for a vw tech to call me back before giving them a call - will be very angry if i have to call a recovery on a car i've only owned just over a week.

A long shot, but is your steering wheel in the locked mode? - Insert key.. Turn wheel to unlock it..

Is the car DSG? If so is it in P?
-
DSG & P would be my first thought.

Just looked at your other posts and I see your car is DSG.

Lol, When i got my DSG i couldn't remove the key from the ignition,
Took a minute to realise it has to be in Park mode, Doh.
I should have RTFM...Read the F**king manual. :signLOL:

Ahh, feel like such a dimwit... putting the key in and wiggling the steering wheel did the trick... none of my previous cars have had this 'feature'.
Thanks all round :happy2:

Lol, good you got sorted, guess the wheels was just sat wrong, although I'm sure all your cars had steering locks :-)
