Ive seen a few different intake systems and cant decide which on to go for, whats peoples opinions on whats out there?
Ive currently got a carbonio into the std engine cover, moving forward id like to loose the engine cover for air intake and replace that with some pipe work but rather than the forge/KN etc filter id like the cold air pipe to go into something like the carbonio style box. Is there anything out that to provide that?

Ive seen the AWE CCB but there is little if any feedback on their system in terms of performance.

I believe the dbilas intake does what your looking for. Vtec Abuser was running one at the rolling road day on Saturday which was a full induction pipe etc but going to a mounting point behind the grill like the OEM one. Maybe PM him for a few photos?
-
How about some carbon piping??

that was my original choice mate but it looks a bit busy with the twin filters and every pic ive seen it never seems to sit straight.
My long term goal is to smooth the bay and id rather try and keep the filter option as uncluttered as possible, that carbon pipe work looks bang on, doubt id get it before e38 tho
-
you could get the piping fabricated and put a twintake filter on the end
-
Neatest option for a MK5 with a smoothed bay would be a Neuspeed P-FLO with the race extension, That way all you have in the bay is the pipework.
-
just go for the twintake and chop the engine cover up :happy2:

gave regal a call today re the AWE CCB, waiting for a call back on delivery times

heres my set up and im over the moon with it. It performs as good as the itg but is no way near as loud and doesnt drone...Also it would be very easy to pipe the filter into the front bumper for even better gains

For ultimate bling there is the GruppeM intake. Combine that with an Evoms intake section and you have a glorious looking piece of kit. Not cheap though!! :surprised:

What set up is that Paul?
-
Correct me if Im wrong but isnt that just going to suck in warm air from the engine bay in that current location?

....Fairly minimal if it does. The filter itself has a certain amount of boxing around it and the pipe reflective gold tape wrapped to help reduce temperatures.
-
the filter is over the hole into the front bumper so open fog grills really help....my set only sucks the same amount of hot air as the itg which compared to the cold air it gets is minimum.....i found the itg and this perform very well indeed :happy2:
-
Where did you get the gold reflective tape from, I've been thinking of wrapping my dbilas intake in it as that gets quite hot, can't seem to find it anywhere??

....Make sure you get the HEAT reflective tape specifically for automotive use. It's not cheap but works much better.. So buyer beware of ebay!
If I can find the source later (I was given mine) I'll post more info.
