Jeez :surprised:
The red light camera... loads of people say those small camera type things that sit on the top of the Traffic Lights.. they are just sensor right ?
I know some traffic lights have a Yellow Traffic Camera and flash if you jump a red light?
Could some one brush light on the red light camera ?
-
:surprised: :scared:
At least you're both ok, hope you get things sorted relatively easily :happy2:
-
Maybe im wrong. I called it red light cam because it looks like one that catches those people. This one was like a speed cam next to lights. You can see it in the pic. Gemma and i were taken to hospital but the police say then got witnesses. But Duno what was said.
-
Oh My :surprised: Hope you and the GF are gonna be ok :happy2: I had a bump this morning. I know how gutted I felt/still feel and I only damaged the front bumper and wing. Your crash is a whole different kettle of fish mate. My heart goes out to you!
-
The black box above the light is a sensor to detect lights at night and judge traffic AFAIK and the yellow box next to the lights is the red light camera.
Get well soon fella, atleast you're both OK.
-
Glad to hear your both Ok :happy2:
Hopefully all the evidence is available to prove your not at fault :happy2:
-
eek, just glad you are both ok, but take it easy you are both going to be sore for a while
-
Get well soon mate hope both of you are ok  hope he gets hammered for his errors and usual van man attitude!
-
Glad your both ok ish and keep us updated on the red light camera and hope the van driver gets what he deserves.
-
Dude, gutting. Hope you get better.
What the hell's happening? September's meant to be the accursed month for GTIs.
-
Hope you both make a speedy recovery!
-
Check the location of red light camera on http://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/
Contact the safety camera partnership via the police (I assume they are already involved due to injury).
Get well soon.
-
Hope all get sorted Steve. If that all you remember is correct, the C U Next Tuesday should get what's coming to him and not have a leg to stand on.. :fighting:
-
i got a silver mk5 gti in march and i think its invisible i have had more cars pull out on me from junctions than any car ive had before. im getting paranoid.
-
Oh NO !
Gutted to hear about this Steve :sad1:
-
Oh gutted, hope your both okay. Damn van drivers!
-
Sobering reading. Hope you are all well soon and that all involved learn a lesson from this: - The van driver not to run reds and you and your GF (and everyone reading this thread) to be more cautious of people not paying attention despite it not being your fault, I'm always wary of others who drive eratically - paranoid something like this may happen.

I've had 3 near misses in the last 10 days - 2 on mini roundabouts where "give way to traffic from the right" law has been ignored and last week when a big fecking 4x4 undertook me on the hard shoulder of the motorway just as i was pulling over onto the slip road to exit after been sitting in a queue.
I do have a very dark, hard to notice CW Ed30 though so its my fault!!
-
Hi Steve
really sorry to hear about the smash, hope you're both recovering well. I would have a look to see if there is any CCTV on the junction and then make a request for the footage under the Freedom of Information act. You will not be able to apply for footage of the other vehicle, just yours. However, the footage of your car should show the state of the lights at the time.
It's a long shot, but the police would subpoena this information as part of more serious investigations
Hope this helps
Minty
-
sounds bad dude,
sorry to hear it, hope the tranny driver gets whats coming!!!
-
Went to the area today, no one saw or would help. No CCTV cameras.
we both insured with LV (well im with highway (part of lv) though greenlight), so dont know how thats going to affect things
-
Gutted for you mate hope you 2 are ok
-
Sorry to hear of your accident mate.
I am with Highway too and am in the middle of a claim with them too after a mishap 2 weeks ago.
Cars can be repaired but the main thing is that you and your GF are ok.
Alex
-
Really, really sorry to hear this. These holes in vans have a lot to answer for. It's like they are proud to drive dangerously because it's an accepted stereotype that van man cuts you up and shoots the lights etc,,... I had a transit van write off one of my cars and he lied through his teeth as well.
-
That is a nightmare fella... sorry to hear it. Hope you get it all sorted soon :happy2:
-
dont know if i should send my tax disk off for refund??
-
Insurance called.
Its a write off, said it will work out more than whatever the % is of car value.
They offering me 15k!
There was 14miles on the dam clock and no damage!
absolutely gutted.
now at a loss of what to do

Gutted for you mate :ashamed:
You could ask to buy it back?
-
i guess i could, but that will only cause hassle, id have to get it to me, then store it when what the hell would i do with it....
-
Gutted for you pal.
Did the van driver get done by the red light camera then???
-
nope they not told me anything about that yet

Buy another one steve :happy2:. 15k sounds about right
-
Does that value include your mods? If not make sure you get the value of those too :happy2:
I would be happy with 15k given recent trade in rates ive been offered  though mine has 40k miles
Look on the bright side mate and get car shopping
-
Don't accept their first offer is the first thing you should do!!
Start looking for similar models to substantiate your claim for more cash.
I can't remember if you posted, was it fault or non fault in the end?
-
Stack loads of Manual Ed30's around steve,You wont have difficulty finding a worthy replacement. It might be worth holding out for a better offer as Stu says, but i think your be lucky to get any more tbh.
-
that wasnt including mods. that i need to speak to greenlight about.
i looked on auto trader and not any worthy candidates around me :(
-
If it was a non fault then you have every right to ask them for enough money to purchase a vehicle of the same specification as the one which was 'taken' from you. So as I say, if it is a non fault start gathering your info, make sure it's main dealers too
-
unfortunately hes not accept liability and so waiting on insurers to decide. i have given them as much evidence as i can

-
not a bad find at all although its 200miles away and the xeons are a biggy, didn't think they could be fitted after because of the electrics?
-
They can mate, i have xenons now on mine.
-
fitted after?
-
There are a few guys on the forum who've had a xenon retrofit
-
fitted after?
Yes Stokeballon fitted mine. :happy2:
-
hum, how much does that cost?
-
I've just been looking at cars in the dealer network and i still think you're being bent over.
I'm up to £18k and I've still not found one with Xenon Headlights. What year/spec was your previous car?
-
july 07,
zenons
winter pack
folding mirrors, dippin rear
metallic paint
highline
-
18k will be for a top spec car stu.
Dealers seriously stealing you if its the spec that steve had before for 18k

-
thanks mate, but its bit on the expensive side if i only end up gettin 15, plus it dont have zenons :fighting:
-
it does have washer jets for the lights so fitting xenons would be easy plus show your insurance it so they can see what they are up for
-
i have taken lots of screen prints of vw ed30s to show them :happy2:
-
that one on piston heads is sold! tut
-
that one on piston heads is sold! tut
that looked a great motor..i should have got moving on that myself.
really sorry for your loss.. certainly agree with the consensus that you should try and get a bit more from the IC...no harm in trying.
-
Trade price on a 36k miles 3 door according to the glasses/vauxhall site is -
Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£13250
Average condition:
£11800
Below average condition:
£10400
That will not be taking into account any options, if I remember correctly the Xenons were £1k as an option alone.
-
exactly and he used glasses guide along with others
