Jeez  :surprised:

The red light camera... loads of people say those small camera type things that sit on the top of the Traffic Lights.. they are just sensor right ?

I know some traffic lights have a Yellow Traffic Camera and flash if you jump a red light?

Could some one brush light on the red light camera ?

Post by: SteveS on July 26, 2010, 09:39:22 pm
Maybe im wrong. I called it red light cam because it looks like one that catches those people. This one was like a speed cam next to lights. You can see it in the pic.                Gemma and i were taken to hospital but the police say then got witnesses. But Duno what was said.

Oh My  :surprised: Hope you and the GF are gonna be ok  :happy2: I had a bump this morning.  I know how gutted I felt/still feel and I only damaged the front bumper and wing. Your crash is a whole different kettle of fish mate. My heart goes out to you!

Post by: Nasir on July 26, 2010, 10:04:54 pm
The black box above the light is a sensor to detect lights at night and judge traffic AFAIK and the yellow box next to the lights is the red light camera.
Get well soon fella, atleast you're both OK.

Check the location of red light camera on http://www.speedcameramap.co.uk/

Contact the safety camera partnership via the police (I assume they are already involved due to injury).

Get well soon.

Sobering reading. Hope you are all well soon and that all involved learn a lesson from this: - The van driver not to run reds and you and your GF (and everyone reading this thread) to be more cautious of people not paying attention despite it not being your fault, I'm always wary of others who drive eratically - paranoid something like this may happen.

i got a silver mk5 gti in march and i think its invisible i have had more cars pull out on  me from junctions than any car ive had before. im getting paranoid.
I've had 3 near misses in the last 10 days - 2 on mini roundabouts where "give way to traffic from the right" law has been ignored and last week when a big fecking 4x4 undertook me on the hard shoulder of the motorway just as i was pulling over onto the slip road to exit after been sitting in a queue.

I do have a very dark, hard to notice CW Ed30 though so its my fault!!

Post by: minty7815 on July 27, 2010, 02:41:31 pm
Hi Steve

really sorry to hear about the smash, hope you're both recovering well. I would have a look to see if there is any CCTV on the junction and then make a request for the footage under the Freedom of Information act. You will not be able to apply for footage of the other vehicle, just yours. However, the footage of your car should show the state of the lights at the time.

It's a long shot, but the police would subpoena this information as part of more serious investigations

Hope this helps

Minty

Sorry to hear of your accident mate.
I am with Highway too and am in the middle of a claim with them too after a mishap 2 weeks ago.
Cars can be repaired but the main thing is that you and your GF are ok.

Really, really sorry to hear this. These holes in vans have a lot to answer for. It's like they are proud to drive dangerously because it's an accepted stereotype that van man cuts you up and shoots the lights etc,,... I had a transit van write off one of my cars and he lied through his teeth as well.

Does that value include your mods? If not make sure you get the value of those too  :happy2:

I would be happy with 15k given recent trade in rates ive been offered   though mine has 40k miles

Look on the bright side mate and get car shopping

Don't accept their first offer is the first thing you should do!!

Start looking for similar models to substantiate your claim for more cash.

I can't remember if you posted, was it fault or non fault in the end?
Title: Re: Car - Crashed!
Post by: Saint Steve on August 04, 2010, 07:58:22 pm
Stack loads of Manual Ed30's around steve,You wont have difficulty finding a worthy replacement. It might be worth holding out for a better offer as Stu says, but i think your be lucky to get any more tbh.
Title: Re: Car - Crashed!
Post by: SteveS on August 04, 2010, 08:01:29 pm
that wasnt including mods. that i need to speak to greenlight about.

i looked on auto trader and not any worthy candidates around me :(
Title: Re: Car - Crashed!
Post by: vRStu on August 04, 2010, 08:02:20 pm
If it was a non fault then you have every right to ask them for enough money to purchase a vehicle of the same specification as the one which was 'taken' from you.  So as I say, if it is a non fault start gathering your info, make sure it's main dealers too

I've just been looking at cars in the dealer network and i still think you're being bent over.

I'm up to £18k and I've still not found one with Xenon Headlights.  What year/spec was your previous car?

Trade price on a 36k miles 3 door according to the glasses/vauxhall site is -

Quote
Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition:
£13250
Average condition:
£11800
Below average condition:
£10400
That will not be taking into account any options, if I remember correctly the Xenons were £1k as an option alone.
