Title: slight speaker crackle
Post by: no golf clubs at all on July 28, 2010, 10:18:13 am
I seem to be getting a very intermittant speaker crackle from one speaker. Its the small speaker on the drivers side just behind the wing mirror (I think thats a speaker in there!). I have a MY2006 GTI with the ten speaker combo.

What do you reckon, is this easy to get off and clean the connections or do we think that the speaker will be gubbed? if so is a replacement expensive?

It actually only seems to happen on AM radio! (ok I am an old foagy) and you would never notice it on FM. So, apart from NOT listening to TALK SPORT, can someone offer any assistance as to how best to proceed?

You will need to take the door card off to remove the trim with the speaker glued to it. There is a connector about a foot below where it goes into the door wiring loom.
