.
I've got the same problem but after 10-14 days of no car use. I also have an aftermarket head unit (Alpine SatNav/Audio DVD).
On OEM Mk5 GTI's there's a known issue of "Radio" battery drainage but VW released a software update to cure it. Problem is that it only applies to OEM.
We've so far identified the drainage to Fuse 19 in the engine bay fusebox. The GTI Handbook identifies the F19 as "Radio".
We're still investigating and will share here what we discover. Likewise I trust you'll do the same :happy2:

I guess that as short a time as 1/2 days means you need to either remove (but is it an extra amp which has been installed?) the aftermarket unit, or remove the fuse?
Methinks that the first thing for you to establish with a meter is where the drainage is occurring by trial and error in removing and replugging fuses one-by-one. Best to start with those fuses on aftermarket connections. I'm not an expert though.

Sounds like you both have a constant live powering the headunit rather than an ignition live, if that is the case your headunit will be drawing power all the time...
I think there is an ignition live at the bottom of the fuse box
Have a look at this not a radio install but it shows which and how to get an switched live.
