Hey folks
What Steel wheels fit on the MK5 Gti? Obviously MK5 ones do but i imagine they come with alot of scene tax :P So was just wondering what other non scene models wheels would fit. Im sure ive heard somewhere that T5 transporter wheels would fit.

You could always split them - weld a band in the mddle making them 9" wide and use some 175/55/15 tyres for that special look.
Suppose it had to happen didn't it

You'd be in the Scene Supertax bracket on a mk5 mate

The split steelies look best on a Mk4 imo. Quite a few do it across the pond in the U S of A.

Haha no im planning a european road trip during the winter snowboarding and no doubt ill end up on some snow covered mountain roads so i was thinking of getting some steelies for the trip so i can put snow chains on the wheels without worrying about damaging my Monza's.

I got some 16 inch alloys off the bay for winter. You can get a set with summer tyres for a bit more than £100.
Viz the scene tax, Mercedes use 5x112, so some steelies from a C class should work.
For winter tyres, you might be better with 205/55r16 than 17 inchers, as you can fit normal snow chains. You have to get posh chains to fit on 17" or 18".
