Hey folks
Im currently running my car on V-power and im getting a bit fed up of paying 127 per litre so i am tempted to start using Tesco 99 instead.
Has anyone used the 2 and actually noticed any difference between them?
When i had my car remapped with REVO the guy asked me what fuel i used presumingly to set up the timing, I told him I used V-Power would using the Tesco stuff mess all the settings up?
I imagine as its still a high RON fuel it shouldn't really make a difference but I thought it would be good to check :happy2:

Mine runs exactly the same on either brew. My tip is get a tesco clubcard and start saving those clubcard points.
Not all tesco's do 99 on their forecourts, some just do 97 which isnt as good.
-
Down in sunny Bournemouth, I used to live closer to Tescos than Shell and so tended to use the former more than the latter. Personally found the car to be more responsive after Shell but better mpg from Tescos 99-RON stuff. Should be fine for remapped engines.
-
I run on both, I'll go for tesco 99 if I have the choice but I have a shell under a mile away so it varies. I find the car to be smoother and more punchy at low revs with tesco 99. I'm also remapped so you'll be fine

I had crappy power delivery after using Tesco 99 until I had cleared the tank, took a while for the ECU had to re adjust :scared: Never used it since.
V Power all the way
-
I've been using 99ron of late and found the car slightly sluggish  Thought it may be down to plugs which i'm planning on upgrading to bk7's but the other night I filled with v-power first time in 6 month

I always "perceive" a difference with Tesco 99 against V-Power so i try not to use it unless i really have to (or the wife can't be arsed to going to the Shell Garage )
Thing is V-Power is refined to 99 Octane where Tesco 99 is full of additives.

Tesco 99 is also a refined and blended fuel, not just a load of additives.
I heard Shell do add additives after a tanker has loaded though, what these are I'm not sure but its not a good way to add them :stupid:
I always use Tesco 99, found it to be a lot better than V-Power... Plus I know whats going into it... as I work where it is made :happy2:

Ok i stand corrected

Alot better.....really
I wouldnt have thought they would be that much difference but i use v power pretty much all the time as the garage is the closest to me. Maybe where you work influences your decsion some what.

I was waiting for that one lol
I used Tesco 99 before I even worked there :P
All my cars I've had ran bit iffy using V-Power, I could easy see a difference

Shell is just down the road from me so mine runs on V-Power all the time BUT it's only £1.19 a litre here in Harrogate.
-
Cheers for the replies guys there seems to be a mixed response
Im gona give my car a couple of tanks of Tesco 99 and see what happens ill report back in a few days :happy2:

I work near Kinson so im lucky i have a shell 1 minute down the road.

Heres some fact about the 2 fuels rather than subjective opinions.
http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/tuning/Fuel_Test_Results_Update.shtml
Based on this, price, tesco being closer I use tesco 99. Although occassionally when i fill up with v power i can't notice any difference.
-
Some good info there Rob :happy2:
Might have to start using Tesco for a bit and see if it makes any diff after a few tanks :happy2:
-
Always used Tesco 99 on my four Revo mapped Cupras with no issues. :drinking:
1.23 and just down the road.
-
Use Tesco 99 mostly now as the GTI seems to run a lot better on it, that said, V-Power ran just as well but i'd only used it once, whereas i've had a few fill ups of 99 Tesco.
Price wise, normal UL is £1.12p here, and Tesco 99 @ £1.19 per litre.
-
I can only get standard unleaded :ashamed:
-
my car made less power on stage 1 when using tesco 99
-
I mainly use v power but cant really tell much difference between the two, although i dont do a lot of miles.
prices are as follows around my area
Sainsburys Stoke-on-trent 114.9p 21-08-2010
Tesco Stoke Newcastle-under-lyme 117.9p 20-08-2010
